Doesn’t look like it from the eye test but the analytics support your thesis. We’ll see what happens…

No it isn’t a shot at him - it is a fact, the Rockets have had a number of very high lottery picks the last 5 years and don’t have a superstar to show for it. Now - context is important, Stone did not leave superstars on the draft board when he took guys like Jabari and Green. Still, fair or not being an NBA GM is a performance driven business, regardless of good or bad luck.

The argument that Stone didn’t have a chance to draft Cade, Wemby or Flagg is valid. He didn’t pass on those players.

My wider point was/is that if a franchise gets picks: 2, 3, 4, 3, 10, 16, 17, 20, 23, 24, 29 …. Over a 4 year span, the expectation is going to be very high, and you are expected to have more talent than the Rockets roster has.

As for Stone, I don’t think he is terrible. There are worse GM’s in the NBA - I just don’t think he is elite based on what I have observed and heard.

I personally would continue rebuilding as well - but I can’t see that happening. They may wait for everyone to be healthy and run it back or will make a trade for a veteran star.

Giannis is the big name obviously but I don’t know if he would extend with the Rockets.

And that is only the drafting part, he does not have an edge as a trader and does not trade at deadlines......

He shut that door down on 1 good part of being a trader. No GM in their right mind does that.

Lot of analysts didn't get over hyped on "following the 2nd seed year". Rockets Vegas odds for wins was 53. That was accounting for FVV out, and healthy Adams and Finney Smith.

All things considered, with no Adams, Finney Smith a big bust, they're actually right around where they should be.

One of the few times "the analysts" were mostly fair. Just the on-court product looks 10 times rougher and more disjointed than a top 4 seed should look. And that roughness does indicate lack of high end abilty

KD is killing this team's chemistry - we are actually worse than last year.

This is what happens when there is no real PG running the offense.

These dumb ****s we have suiting up don't know what the hell they're doing.

Literally no one outside of San Antonio thinks that means anything.

Lol this. People acting like we're only losing to the Nuggets and Spurs but gloss over other losses that are a lot more alarming. Watch the games. The players dont care anymore. Amen doesnt even bother chasing guys down from behind like he used to. Sengun forgot how to play basketball apparently.

Ime is a lot to blame but I feel like Dickerson is a cancer.

the drafting was okay, development was terrible though. Silas was a disaster. İme very questionable. I don’t have grip on the assistant coaches but it doesn’t sound like any of them are good when I hear them talk and there doesn’t seem to be a targeted development program.

Because the current team is a play-in team. They are still riding the good record from the start of the season.

KD is a very interesting player. Best shooter/scorer of all time. But plays completely independent of the rest of the team. On the positive side, he is plug n play, perfect for ime. No coaching needed. But he doesn’t make anyone better, the other 4 need to figure out a game on their own. That is not easy. Perhaps that’s why he only had his time when he joined the already great warriors.

and he apparently is a cancer in the locker room. Even without the Dickerson stuff. But the team seems to lose it totally afterwards.

Yeah, I think Sengun has played his last season as a Rocket.

I don't know if FIBA EuroBasket 2025 plus this season has taken it out of him but he looks like he had a big bowl of beef stew and cornbread before every game. Just chuggy and slow(er). Constipated Kung Fu Panda.

As to his deficiencies, formerly minor annoyances, have become glaring.

God knows the team's construction (overpaying dudes who helped/would have helped but are injured; tall dudes to play "defense"; no point guard, therefore, stupid f***ing turnovers; no trades to plug lineup holes, non-shooters, et al).

I'm not trying to make excuses for Sengun. If we're going to improve? He's gone. Especially because Tiltitta ain't eating the rest of Udoka's and Stone's contracts. Not while his restaurant kitchen staff is cutting lemons into itty bitty tiny slices to save, what is it?, $50k a year.

It's fair to say KD joined the Warriors for a free championship. But he and Westbrook did take those Warriors to 7 games in the WCF the season before KD jumped ship. NO ONE was getting past the Warriors in those days. The Rockets also came close, but the refs took care of that.
