stole my joke. i have never gotten anime. it just seems so ridiculous. but i have a friend who is an anime freak (like back in the day, getting hyped waiting until the new anime hit the torrent sites on wednesday type freak) who could answer this if he posted here. so it really does have the boom anime babes that make you think the wrong thing?
Straight up! Didn't that come out back then too? And it's just caught on only recently? http://www.retrojunk.com/details_tvshows/1190-lupin-the-3rd/
For some reason, I haven't been able to put much time/money into anime, although I'd like to. Growing up, I watched a lot of DBZ, as did most of my friends. I later watched Akira, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, and a few other anime movies/shows, but not a whole lot. I don't think I've watched any anime in the last couple of years though. Some of my friends seem to be into Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, and a few of the other shows listed.
I've watched a bit of Anime but not any at all today. A couple of years ago, these are the things I enjoyed the most. Cowboy Bebop Ninja Scroll Mobile Suit Gundam The 8th MS Team- I always liked this because they grounded the big robot stuff and used them in a more realistic militaristic kind of way. Trigun (I think I enjoyed the premise more than what eventually happens, finding out Vash's arm is a freaking WMD.)
If you dont knoe **** about GOOD anime, you need to get the Hayao Miyazaki's collection, Spirited Away my neighbor totoro, haul's moving castle, they all classics.
I've watched a bit of anime. I like action series with a sense of direction. Here's a list of shows that didn't seem like a waste of time. Full Metal Alchemist- my older sisters like this series too The first 44 episodes of Rurouni Kenshin- light hearted samurai anime Ghost in the Shell- cyberpunk classic set in the near future Neon Genesis Evangelion- if you like cryptic mechas X- If you like the style of NGE, but not the robots Monster- a fugitive type thriller; there are a lot of fans, but I didn't like the last episodes. Gungrave- a decent mobster series that shifts into zombie mode halfway. Initial D- a show about street racing Hunter x Hunter- An older series like Naruto based on bounty hunters Depressing series and movies: Now then here and there Wolf's Rain Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Senseless blood and gore: Berserk (incomplete) Gantz (incomplete) Hellsing (incomplete) Ninja Scroll (movie) Kite (movie) My choice for best anime ever is Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's a Star Wars or Babylon 5 for anime. There's more politics and drama than senseless violence and gore. It feels more like an epic novel because of its number of episodes. Torrent
I grew up across the Pacific and Speed Racer was my favorite waaaaay back then. I smiled to see it still has fans. Wow, I better ask, does it still run? Oh, there was another but I won't bother you guys about a ghost named Q. RR
Didn't expect this many people that watch anime. I think I will check out Cowboy Bebop, Hajime no Ippo and a few others. Thanks guys.
The list for me pretty much consists of FullMetal Alchemist, FLCL, Champloo, and Ghost in the Shell: SAC. I had a short Inuyasha phase until I realized the show was never really going to progress in plot or character development. Other than that, i guess I don't like too much anime anymore. It used to be different because its unique qualities of combining fantasy action with a continuing, more adult storyline. Now there are plenty of American toons with those qualities (The current best being Avatar, IMO), and there's no longer any need to read subtitles or endure horrible dubbing jobs to get them.
For the past two weeks at my school, we've taken time off academic classes and took week long classes in other random subjects, 3 a day. I got stuck in Japan class and we watched a bunch of anime. I got a good 2 hour nap every day. I cant stand the stuff.
