Stop laughing. This qualifies. :(

In Mexico, it is pronounced: "Hay-Dee".

Yeah, it sounds like a popular premise in anime. HNG, HNI, and Prince of Tennis all seem to have the same formula, beginner gets into a sport or game and the show tracks his development as he gets better and more experienced. It's essentially a modern retelling of the Hero's Journey.

They should adopt stuff like that for American television. In a lot of ways, it's the same kind of storytelling that made Harry Potter so popular. So I imagine it'd be a slam dunk project for a tv show.

What, are they playing basketball in the story? How come it's a slam dunk and it's not even about basketball? I'm confused.

    ;)

Great call. Nausicaa blew me away and I was shocked to learn how old it was. Really ahead of its time and one of the few really good eco-flicks.

Maybe this should go in the confession thread, but in seventh grade I woke up at 5 every morning to rub one out to Sailor Moon.

I'm watching Bleach and Naruto. Both shows are pretty long but have filler episodes. You should probably skip the Naruto filler which is bad for the most part.

I've watched one with my nephew that was pretty cool:

    help me with the name

It is about two adolescent brothers. One has been turned into a robo machine...don't recall why.

I dont watch much, my daughter does.

There is only a few that appealed to me at all.

Cowboy Bebop (obviously not a bad choice considering how many others said this)
Ghost in the Shell ( what is it about futuristic anime that draws me in?)
FLCL (a short 6 ep story that is quirky as hell and had a chick beating people upside their heads with a guitar)
Full Metal Alchemist (one of my kid's favs, Ive seen a few and they didnt make me leave the room...so its pretty decent)
    Witchhunter Robin
Lupin the Third (waaay out there, but quite funny...if you loved the way they drew Speed Racer, you'll love this one)
and one that is quite underrated imo
Big O (fighting robots in a futuristic society where no one remembers the past)

I dont get the ones that seem to be all over Cartoon Net and the other kids channels....the characters are always screaming and the animation seems too over the top.

Don't forget the all-time classics like Ninja Scroll and Fist of the North Star.
