Is little dicky supposed to be Sengun’s new nickname? Makes sense with how small he plays in the paint
Couldn’t be Alpi cause he was putting Wemby in the basket. You mad about his D again I see. Maybe he’ll be more stout next game and that’ll please you.
The fact Alpi can dominate Wemby going to the post, yet we refuse to use him properly, shows one of the reasons the coaching is such a failure on this team. No one is put in positions to succeed. Everybody sucked tonight because of coaching.
I just want a cerebral coach who doesn’t rely on ClutchFans for coaching advice. Cause that’s what it feels like to me.
Just got a taste of Rockets and Spurs fans on Twitter and those miserable freaks make you people seem normal holy ****
You can win WITH Sengun, but you have to sacrifice everything to build around him - like Jokic, and he is not as good as Jokic. It is much easier to win in the NBA with 3pt shooters and a rim running big, than it is the Jokic way......Sengun is a very good player, but I don't think the Rockets ever fully committed to that style, nor should they, time to trade our 2 time all start and get a roster that fits together....and runs the ball up the floor...and plays fast. DD
Sengun is Sabonis good enough to make an All-Star game here or there and get big pay days, but way too flawed on both ends for your team to do anything serious if he’s one of the best players “Senhub” is trash offense, and on defense, he’s a cone
Right - if Sengun could score at the rim at an elite clip like Giannis then he becomes a player where you surround him with shooters and just let him go to work inside until the double comes. The problem is - he isn't anywhere close to elite inside presence so who cares if you are a playmaker at heart if teams would rather bet on you missing a tough guarded two than leaving a 3pt shooter open. Good player - and might even be on a title contending team at some point, but he kind of sits in the same space as Julius Randle and (surprise, surprise because many including myself have been saying this for years) Domatas Sabonis. Alpi has a different game than both players but functionality they operate the same - players not versatile or elite enough to be worth near max dollars on a great team so either you take significantly less money so the team can build around your limitations OR you are one of the best players on a non contending team. The only reason that the Alpi contract hasn't hit the fan yet in Houston is because Reed and Amen have not yet made it out of their rookie deals but there will soon be a reckoning of Alpi's days in Houston. Sadly, Houston didn't move on from him last year when his value was likely at it's peak. I think he has been exposed a bit this year and his value is probably significantly less than it was this time last year.
Sengun is just bad on defense. It's like he has to have a monstrous game on offense to compensate for his defense. If Sengun is traded anywhere, that team sits at mediocrity forever. I used to be big on Sengun, then he picked the right time to show his true colors. Crying all the time, lack of defense, and scared of physical play. Kelvin Johnson bodying him on offensive drives is just a sign of disrespect. He treats Alpi, Bari, and Reed like that everytime they get switched on to him. Alpi has not adapted to the American game yet. I dont know if euro ball hurt or helped him?
Question for everyone. If this team has Giannis instead of Sengun, how many more wins does this team have?
I think he gets the message in Euro ball that he needs to takeover games....maybe that works in Euro leagues but in the NBA a team is worse off is Alpi is trying to be the scorer - especially with the way modern NBA teams generate more of their scoring from 3pters than ever before. 3pters change the points per posession game in ways that expose Alpi's mediocre rim finishing and FT shooting. He's basically an elite passer with a mediocre offensive game. He has a zillion post moves - but it's just a zillion ways to shoot the same '5 or 6ft from the hoop' shot - that doesn't really help the larger offense.
