If I had to choose, I would give the slight edge to Hill (and I'm not a Hill fan) for his all round play, especially his rebounding, but it is way too close to call. Paul Pierce is a better shooter and also has an all-Round game. Btw: I saw Grant play in college and since his rookie year.
Head2head... http://www.basketball-reference.com...?request=1&p1=hillgr01&p2=piercpa01#stats::15 <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fplay-index%2Fh2h_finder.cgi%3Frequest%3D1%26p1%3Dhillgr01%26p2%3Dpiercpa01&div=div_stats"></script> I personally like Paul Pierce better, but if I had to choose who was better 'all-Round' Grant Hill by the slimmest of margins.
Like I said, I prefer Pierce...but statistically speaking, Hill would have the slightest of slightest of edges, due to his superior rebounding & assists. But I personally still prefer Pierce. To keep it fair I called it a tie.
FINALS RedNation pg: Magic Johnson sg: Tracy McGrady sf: Paul Pierce pf: Chris Webber C: Kareem Abdul-Jabaar Bench G: Rajon Rondo F: Dale Ellis C: Ralph Sampson VS Jamers PG - Isiah Thomas SG - George Gervin SF - Grant Hill PF - Tim Duncan C - Moses Malone Bench: PG - Tony Parker SF - Shawn Marion C/PF -Ben Wallace Frontcourt: Pierce/Webber/Abdul-Jabbar vs. Hill/Duncan/M.Malone This is pretty damn close. Pierce has the slight edge over Hill, and Abdul-Jabbar has a moderate edge over Moses, but Duncan has a large advantage over Webber. Hill is a great passer, but so are Pierce and Webber. I think Duncan and Moses would win the rebound battle over Kareem and Webber. Pierce is the only real 3-point threat here. All things considered, I think the quality of each front court is about equal. TIE Backcourt: Johnson/McGrady vs. Thomas/Gervin Both point guards turned over the ball at the same rate, but Magic got more assists, so he is clearly the better distributor. Both stole the ball at the same frequency, although I do think Thomas was more rugged on defense. Both had similar scoring ability. Overall, Magic is clearly the better option at PG, but Thomas is no slouch. Both McGrady and Gervin had great peaks, but the Iceman was much more consistent throughout his career. McGrady shot the 3 better, but Gervin has the edge in FG% and FT%. Overall, the consistent excellence of Gervin makes him a much better option than the unreliability of T-Mac. Overall, I would give the combination of Thomas/Gervin a very miniscule edge over Magic/T-Mac. JAMERS Bench: Rondo/Ellis/Sampson vs. Parker/Marion/Wallace Both benches are very good. Rondo and Parker both bring different things to the table, and are about a wash. I love the fact that RedNation is able to insert one of the best 3 point shooters of all time, Dale Ellis, into the lineup at any given time. Marion is definitely the more well-rounded player, though. I like Wallace over Sampson due to his shot-blocking ability, tough defense, and longevity. Overall, I would give a slight edge to Parker/Marion/Wallace. JAMERS Offense: Rednation definitely has the better offensive team. There is no question in my mind. Magic is the ultimate distributor, and everyone on the roster (besides Rondo) is likely to go on a super hot scoring streak at any given time. He also has a genuine 3-point threat in Dale Ellis, which is something Jamers simply does not have. REDNATION Defense: Jamers definitely has the better defensive team. There is no question in my mind. Duncan, Moses, Thomas, Wallace, and to a lesser extent Marion, are all standout defensive players. On the other side, I can see Rondo, Pierce and maybe Sampson wreaking some havoc defensively at times, but there are some huge weaknesses on D. Specifically, Webber and T-Mac are huge defensive liabilities that can definitely be taken advantage of by Duncan and Gervin. I still think that my team had the best overall defense out of everyone, but I won't talk about that. JAMERS Chemistry: I don't see any "getting along with each other" chemistry issues on either team. I do think that the exclusion of a true 3-point specialist is the one missing piece on Jamers' team that might possibly prove to be a fatal flaw for him. REDNATION IN THE END, WHO WILL WIN A 7 GAME SERIES: There is one particular situation in which I think RedNation would have a clear advantage, and that is being down by 3 and needing someone to step up to nail a big shot from beyond the arc. However, in most other situations, I think Jamers would come out on top. In the end, I think the large defensive advantage would prove to be too difficult to overcome. Therefore, I think the overall winner would be JAMERS.
FRONTCOURT Gotta go Jamers here. Kareem is a force, and Sampson is dynamite off the bench, but I think the edge is smaller for Kareem over Malone as it is for Duncan vs Webber. Hill vs. Pierce is a draw to me, but, Marion has the edge over Ellis. In the end, I think the defense of Jamers frontcourt is really what puts him over the top. BACKCOURT Magic has a nice advantage over Thomas, although I think Thomas could hold his own, I'd definitely give Magic the edge. T Mac vs. Gervin is interesting because if you are going off of their best season/seasons T Mac is pretty impressive, but in his Houston days he really declined quickly and his shooting % is definitely below average, while Gervin was a prime time scorer and was pretty darn efficient. I'd definitely give Gervin the edge for longevity. The X - factor for me is Rondo vs. Parker, I like Parkers game a lot, but I like Rondo coming off the bench and facilitating and defending rather than Parker scoring especially with Sampson and Jabbar roaming the paint. So I'd give the edge to Red Nation here. BENCH This one is really close for me, I like the versatility of Jamers bench, if they need some defense on the perimeter they put in Marion or post defense they can put in Wallace both are strong rebounders as well. I think Sampson has a pretty sizeable advantage over Wallace enough to make up for Marion vs Ellis. So again, I think it comes down to who I like more between Rondo and Parker so I gotta go Rednation here. OFFENSE I gotta go Red Nation here because he has a plethora of low post offense to pair with very nice perimeter shooting and 2 great facilitators to work out the kinks. DEFENSE I'll take Jamers here, because he has quite a few great individual defenders and 4 time DPOY winner Ben Wallace who can plug and play next to Malone or Duncan who were pretty good themselves. I think defending the paint makes up for a lot of mistakes on the perimeter, and if you can pair that with Grant Hill who was a very smart defender, and Marion who knew how to use his athleticism to stay in front of guys, I can't go against that. CHEMISTRY This is a tough one because when you dealing with all time greats, everyone needs the ball in their hands because they were all great scorers. I think you gotta go with the team with the best PG's to work the ball around and keep everyone happy so I'll take Red Nation here. So who wins? Firstly, this series would absolutely go 7 games, and is truly a clash of Titans. But, if I had to choose, I think I'd go with Jamers team in a 7 games series because the defense would really wear the other guys down. Again, it was really close, but I'm a sucker for defensive juggernauts. Also, if one of you would've just picked Jeremy Lin, I think the decision would've been a lot easier.
I pick RedNation. Showtime baby. Magic running the floor with Kareem, Peirce, Tmac and Webber??? Better version of Showtime. Very, very close series. But, I say RedNation.
Can we agree here? Yung-T's vote decides it. let's wait for him to vote now. Or should we make fallenphoenix vote
Why not? 123rockets, explain a little more so Jamers can read the long way that you gave me the vote.
You're getting a little desperate lmao.. Just want to know how came up with the decision. Other judges wrote their ass down to decide and 123rockets just mentioned your line up. Im fine letting yung-t judge.. He's good.
Fallen says he'd vote for me too. 2 short explanations combined =1  Fine, 123rockets, elaborate. It's still tied Desperate times call for desperate measures. This is tmac we are talking about here.
