I actually agree a bit with you here basso, and I think you've touched on that before. I do think the man has been taken out of the equation and that's wrong. But that's a whole different issue and thread. That being said, I say good luck to justice Alito. And to the republicans, be carefull of what you wish for. I hope you don't wake up one day and realize that the government has taken away any rights you have as an employee or we have millions of unwanted babies in adoption agencies that we can't afford to keep running and consequently slowly starve to death. Or your wife or girlfriend has to go to an unregulated, back room quack to have her abortion and hope you're not arrested for helping her. Because they will continue It’s a whole new America!
That's why it should go back to the states (or Congress) to decide. These are political questions, not constitutional ones.
This is a great moment for America. The Republicans have now taken control of the Executive, Legislative and now Judicial branches of government. Today's confirmation is every bit as important as W's ascension to president. It's a lifetime appointment that will keep the SCOTUS in Republican hands for years and years. The majority of Americans now are represented fairly on the court. Break out the MARACAS, it's time for yet another VICTORY DANCE. ALITOWNED
Heres hoping that abortion comes before the Supreme Court and A-lie-to casts the deciding vote... The backlash will flow in a wave as big as Jack Abramoff's GOP slush fund. Repent now o ye radical, right-wing, federalist bible warriors! Your time at the top has attained it's zenith! Prepare thyself for utter rejection and eternal damnation back to your rightful place of irrelevance and mockery! All joking aside, those of you who are pro-life, I respect your beliefs as long as you are anti-death penalty as well--thats another rant all together. Back to topic--Those on the board who identify themselves as right-wing, one issue pro-life or "other", what do you think? Is it in the GOP's interest to do away with abortion at the SCOTUS level?
Of course, that's not what kos said at all and you know it. That was a post from a member there. Why not attribute TroyBaros's posts to Clutch while you're at it? Kos wasn't even enthusiastically behind the filibuster.
I'm pro-death penalty and pretty much pro-life. But, as has been said, it should only be my choice if it is my potential child. This isn't going to be changed. I'm pretty much positive.
Who is this McKos that you speak of? Friend of yours? Lighten up basso! Yer boy got his lap dog on the SC (two in fact), he's going to be in TV tonight, you should be happy.
