This is such a terrible point to make. There's no hypocrisy here.

The NBA isn't trying to be holier-than-thou and self-righteous by doing this. The NBA is trying to influence the law and thinks that leveraging money in the form of big events can convince states not to adopt this law.

The NBA has no way to impact the laws in China or Mexico, the laws where what they are prior to the NBA arriving. The NBA believes that it has some influence here in the states. It's no different than lobbying political like all major corporations do, except this time, it's in the name of human rights.

So there you guy, don't make that point again cause it's not what is happening.

To be fair, there is some hypocrisy here. As has been noted, there are still NBA teams playing in these states. And there are still major human rights issues in these international markets. Can they effect change as much internationally? Absolutely not. But they also absolutely do not have to go to or market to those areas.

They are DEFINITELY concerned about their current and future economic model and putting that at the forefront.

Which means they are saying, we care about human rights/activist issues, but only to the extent it doesn't really hurt our pocketbook. Which is fine... and understandable... but also somewhat hypocritical. They're not really putting their foot down, or standing up for what they believe in, etc. They're frankly not doing anything that is very "hard" or impactful. They're just moving a once a year event somewhere else... ok.

    Adam Silver is threatening Texas.

He needs to be able to go in the women's restroom on wig night.

Honestly, if someone is willing to have a sex change they can go to the other gender's bathroom. I don't see why they need to shower/change in the locker room when they can just wait until they get home like most do anyways. Kids don't understand it and it's not something I want to explain to mine before they even know women have vaginas.

Let women take a piss privately in the women's restroom and men take a piss in the mens restroom.

Women wouldnt want us men pissing all over their toulet seats would they?

"Man with a wig" argument shows many don't truly understand transgenders. Human nature to fear what you don't understand I guess.

Think about how screwed up it is that you automatically think of men but don't even think about the fact that there are an equal number of people born with female "junk" but identify more with a male. What about those women with fake mustaches?

Also, the person really planning to hurt your child isn't going to stop and say "wait there's a law against this."

Should have stuck to @jmwilliamson 's plan on staying out of this. lol

The law the Governor is proposing says the opposite. It says if someone goes through gender reassignment and has their penis removed to become a woman under the proposed law they would still have to go the men's restroom/locker room. It says that whatever it says on their birth certificate is their gender. So basically, people like Chaz Bono (was a woman, had surgery is now a man with a penis, that dresses like a man, he needs to go in the woman's restroom) Caitlin Jenner (was a man, now has t*** and dresses like a woman she need to go to the men's restroom). Aside from the fact that this is all political grandstanding. No one is enforcing any of these laws and harassing/assaulting someone is already a crime no matter where it takes place. The easy solution is to allow people the dignity to choose the bathroom which they are most comfortable using, which is what we are already doing and it seems to be working fine.

It is not true. That poster either doesn't know or they are intentionally misleading.

The NBA is trying to influence state law about restrooms while totally ignoring human rights atrocities to gain market share internationally. They don't have to go to those countries. But they do because they value the money over human rights. But here locally they choose to try to influence state law because they've already got their market share here. They are willingly entering the political arena. All the while in bed with Nike and others running sweat shops in these countries that abuse their own citizenry.

It's a huge hypocrisy. You have no answer except to filibuster a bunch of nothing.

Nope. First paragraph of the third section:

Under Kolkhorst's bill, anyone using a shared locker and bathrooms in public schools or local and state government buildings must use the facility that corresponds to their "biological sex".

I know what I'm talking about and there is nothing misleading about that language.

You think the NBA would shut down and move to Canada if the US passed a federal bathroom bill law? Based on your logic, the NBA would be hypocrites if they didn't shut down. The league would consider that a fight that they have lost and deal with it. In this case, this fight has not been decided yet therefore they are willing to go to these lengths in the hope that it'll make a difference.

It means that they want to send transgender men (who were women) into the women's restroom/locker room. There is nothing confusing or ambiguous about it. You said my statement was not true and that I was being misleading. How else do you interpret that?

and how would you feel if a supposed women with a penis is using the stall next to your 6 yr old boy? 3rd restroom is not practical because a lot of business cannot accommodate the size for a third restroom.

The NBA needs to stay out of politics period. Sports are a safe haven where I can GET AWAY from stressful things like politics.

To me this is such a stupid issue and it's the one everyone wants to discuss when they talk about politics. There are bigger/realer issues that need to be addressed.

It's not true. That's your interpretation. Texas wants all penises using the same restroom and all vaginas using a different restroom. They don't want penises in the female restroom. And they don't want vaginas in the men's restroom. It's real simple. If you think you're a female and you got a penis you need to get that penisectomy off and get a vagina and THEN you can go use the female restroom. If you have a vagina and you think you supposed to have a penis them you gotta get a penis sewed on and THEN you can go use the urinal in the men's restroom. Got it?

You just wrote an interpretation. The other person is correct. Read the bill.
