If Bryce Young is the better pick for the Texans (and I'm not arguing he would be but it does seem to be the consensus) - am I wrong to think that drafting Jaxon Smith-Njigba - after drafting Stroud #2 - could actually make Stroud a better pick? I'm sure Young and JS-N would get along just fine & eventually become a terrific tandem. But having Stroud/JS-N together from the start is going to be a big boost for Stroud, no? Accelerate his development, lessen his learning curve, etc.? If the Panthers take Young, the idea of dropping Stroud and Smith-Njigba onto the field together becomes very intriguing.
Been saying something similar for a minute, but I’m thinking Young and Metchie. Then use #12 on another hole.
I pulled my hamstring reading this post. After Stingley, there should be no high picks used on players coming off of serious injury.
I have been a stickler for the chemistry angle as well! Now add Luke Wypler at Center and it must help all three to succeed at the NFL level - that would mean 3 out of the 11 on the field or around 30% would be already familiar with each other. Otoh, if they take BY, they already have John Metchie here as well.
Jaxon Smith Njigba has a brother who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates and is overweight. JSN’s speed is a negative for him already. If the family bloodlines suggest he will pork up, then this is a serious problem. I have to pass due to these concerns.
You remind me of the old scouts in money ball turning down players because they have ugly girlfriends..
Dang. Based on bloodlines Pittsburgh never should have drafted HOFer Jerome Bettis, cos of his heavy boned brother.
