By massacring the last two off-seasons, the Texans lost Bouye for no good reason. They let him walk for "Romo money" and that money now ends up in McNair's pocket instead of in a top-10 CB's. Obviously the Texans deserve credit for talent evaluation on the defensive side of the ball. But their management of the business side of things is atrocious. I have a bad feeling no Bouye is what will stand between the Texans and the AFC Championship game. People forget that if Asswiper was even a decent backup QB the Texans take the Patriots down to the wire last year if not having blown them out by the end of the 3rd quarter. They did not need Romo- Watson is better. But the defense takes a huge hit.
The obligiatory month too late Bouye thread. LOL Having the Texans cap space too extend Nuk and do some good things after the June 1st cuts is better than overpaying for someone who was a #4 CB on this team. Easily replaceable.
One thing I've noticed about this coaching staff is that they can coach up DB's. We'll find his replacement.
If Bouye stayed and the Texans paid him the same fortune; we'll be asking for Rick Smith's head (again) the first time he gives up a PI that causes the Texans a game. You had the right mind with this thread but picked the wrong DB. They'll miss Demps more than Bouye.
This website has the cap space numbers: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/ McEnron pocketing a lot of cash instead of going for the Super Bowl by keeping Bouye.
With our front 7 and the return of Johnson, we should be able to find 1-2 more young corners to develop. Losing Bouye hurts, but paying him that kind of cash at the expense of other needs (resigning Nuk and Clowney) was probably the prudent move fiscally. This is a little like the Rockets letting Parsons go vs paying the big bucks (that move looks brilliant now given his injuries). The Texans believe they can find and develop DBs without having to spend tons of cash on a former FA.
Agree, Demps gave us some stability in the back end of the secondary. I'm happy for him that he got paid, but Chicago vs Houston is going to be a big letdown. Hopefully we find someone who can step up at safety.
I wonder what 4th string guy is going to look for major money at the end of the next season and have fans upset about the team letting him go.
this team still has a big hole on the O line. I expect money to be spent there and on extensions, etc. It's a long-term salary cap, can't take point-in-time and evaluate as a finality
