No surprise here. 41% of Trump supports want to bomb Agrabah compared to 30% Republicans overall and 19% of Dems. Only problem is that Agrabah only exists in Aladdin - it's fictional. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/...ountry-from-aladdin-clinton-maintains-bi.html
I'm going to lean towards the people who are willing to bomb anything that sounds even remotely Islamic...despite whether it exists or not...as being the ignorant ones.
Which means it was a bull**** question to sell unneeded studies to lazy reporters. Besides, Barbara Eden was from Baghdad and we bombed that.
That was a silly trap question , and also are you pretending that you know the names of every single major city in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan? Or the name of every single ISIS or Taliban stronghold/base?
Nope but that wasn't the point. The point was to see what percentage of people would support bombing a place based simply off the name sounding Arabic.
3 things with that story 1. clickbait title to attack republicans on intelligence when the real numbers show that more dems got fooled 2. 19% dems support bombing too, and 36% support not bombing... that means 45% of dems were not thrown by a trick question and (100-30-13)57% of republicans were not thrown by a trick question 3. Knowing whether Agrabah is a real town is good sign of intelligence...
Or maybe because the bombings are taking place in the bases of ISIS now? It's not such a far fetched conclusion to make that the poll was asking about one of their bases since the knowledge of specific middle east geography of people OUTSIDE the middle east usually doesn't include all the middle and small sized cities. If it was a poll that had a point to make instead of stupid trap poll.
Enjoying watching republicans scramble to defend themselves from the latest demonstration of their stupidity...
I'm not a republican or an american and I find this poll a form of propaganda and agenda and I think it's a sign of stupidity to consider that it proves anything else whatsoever.
It proves that many voters form their opinion on emotion, and don't even bother educating themselves with the facts before deciding on very drastic actions such as bombing a country.
Actually that is incorrect. If you knew it was a fake town you legitimately could answer "no". In reality what this poll shows clearly is the bias of Republicans to bomb a place without knowing anything about the facts. It clearly shows an anti-Muslim tilt by Republicans.
80% of participants responded via the phone, while 20% of respondents who did not have landlines conducted the survey over the internet. Yes. Before answering a poll over the phone one should prepare oneself and educate on local geography. And one answer over the phone equals the actual decision to action. No further step in between.
dumb, if given a list of ME cities most wouldn't be able to identify the fakes the person being polled, assuming PPP weren't dishonest trolls, rightly presumed this was in reference to some ISIS controlled city, and answered accordingly PPP is not only bad, they are dishonest, as Nate Silver notes http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/heres-proof-some-pollsters-are-putting-a-thumb-on-the-scale/
violence is only extremist when it's not you bombing Aladdin and all of the genie civilians. "answered accordingly" lol
