"The people voting to repeal coverage of your pre-existing conditions will protect you. The people who voted to cover your pre-existing conditions will not. YASSS!!!"

At least Orwell had a sort of plausibility in his narrative. LOL.

Pop Paww told me Team Donkey worse than jazz fans.

Pretty blonde lady with dead eyes and soulless smile said it was true.

    Must be true.

GWB-appointed federal judge ends health care coverage for 20 million people with pre-existing conditions. trump celebrates, but did this just hand Democrats the key voters issue to drive 2020?

In a 55-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor ruled that last year’s tax cut bill knocked the constitutional foundation from under “Obamacare” by eliminating a penalty for not having coverage. The rest of the law cannot be separated from that provision and is therefore invalid, he wrote.

First, it was the mandate and penalty that was unconstitutional, now it is unconstitutional because of no mandate and penalty.

If Republicans hate ACA this much to be this spiteful YEARS later, they are really going to hate Medicare for all when that becomes law within the next 10 years.

The stupidest thing politically Trump and the GOP didn’t do is change a few things from the ACA that weren’t functioning well (like the risk corridors) and call it Trumpcare. Claim that you saved healthcare and call it a day.

Does the GOP stand for anything anymore beyond corruption, greed, cruelty, war, and of course.. owning the libs on the Internet?

Yup. You know how conservatives say things like "liberal coastal elites insulting rural America got you Donald Trump"

Well I guess we can say that taking away pre-existing coverage for millions of Americans and forcing a system where only people can afford skeleton healthcare plans where hardly anything meaningful is covered is going to eventually lead to Medicare for all.

It's acts like these that will jumpstart voter turnout for people you don't want voting conservatives. It's acts like these that will get people like Bernie Sanders as President. Keep that in mind conservatives.

What's worse for the GOP is that you have Trump openly being boastful about this making it easier for independent voters who don't follow news cycles and politics to know who to blame and vote against.

I'm actually surprised also that Trump didn't go with the approach you suggested especially considering that is exactly what he did with NAFTA .

Not even rural backwater bible belt republicans want this, if brett kaugnuagh is the deciding vote to abolish Obamacare, it will be a cold day in republican hell.
Without significant term limits, we are always going to be a divided country. Some of these people have been in office since the 60s. They blocked generationx and they are halfway to the millennials.
No politians in their 80s should be anywhere near political decisions and that goes for Nancy Pelosi as well.

That actually makes sense. The Roberts ruling was that the mandate was an exercise of Congressional tax power. Since Trump knocked out the tax penalty we have been in a strange position where there is a requirement to have insurance but no penalty. Without the tax penalty the requirement has a difficulty standing.

This is a very complicated ruling that will be repealed so at the moment probably shouldn't panic, or rejoice, about the future of he ACA.

I agree. Many of my friends who were in the GOP before Trump recognize that the GOP has become unmoored. Many of those who voted for Trump even agree he is corrupt, lies and probably doesn't know what he's doing but are further entrenching in their hatred to the Left. This is a party without principles that is only defined now by who they consider their enemies.

Wish the judge had done this before the midterms.

But gee... that might have caused voters to move to Democrat candidates, but, I am sure this judge didn't think of the partisan political implications when he timed his decision...

Right, that was solid reasoning for effectiveness, not so much for legality.

A completely twisted up pretzel is very complicated to make, but it's still simply a pretzel.

You never know in this political landscape that is seeping into all corners of government, what craziness would end up standing. What's that saying? You never know if you don't even try?

How will medicare for all work? How much of an increase of taxes per pay period would it raise? Will the taxes per pay period be less than paying a premium for private insurance?

I think, it will stay. You would want citizens to be able to receive health insurance of some kind then being another victim of medical driven bankruptcy. The more options the better.

In honestly, it was always unconstitutional, it's just that now the excuse they made to allow it to continue despite being unconstitutional is no longer valid. They'll have to come up with another excuse to allow it to exist or they'll have to start from scratch and try to come up with a new bill that works within the law. Since it was blatantly unconstitutional, it was always just a matter of time before it was defeated in the courts.

I see you have your talking points ready to go for when this becomes the questions asked to every candidate in 2020. My point wasn’t to advocate for Medicare for all but to point out the fact that the spiteful and shameful GOP approach to healthcare will have an equal and opposite reaction like all things in life.

That reaction will be to say okay you deny the people a compromise plan (Mitt Romney’s brainchild which eventually became the ACA). Screw you, we’ll just go full blown socialized medicine.

All the questions you asked are valid questions which will have to be answered by each and every candidate, but it doesn’t mean that 2020 candidates won’t run on and potentially win on Medicare for all as a campaign promise. There also is a path to the Senate as well for the Democrats which could give the 2020 Dem president full control to pass this bill.

The point: If you hate socialized medicine SOOO much then you should call you reps and call into Rush Limbaugh tomorrow morning and push your party to stop the partisan BS and work to just ensure the ACA works better. Then call it Trumpcare to score poltical points.

This effort to blow up the ACA out of pure partisan spite will blow up in your face. But don’t take my word for it. I’ll see you in 2021.
