So basically a woman could have a pre-existing condition resulting solely from something Donald Trump did to them.

And it passes. Republicans better enjoy that anchor weighing them down in 2018.

And Trump gets 72 hours of celebration until the CBO score comes out on Monday.

My guess is that the Senate republicans will vote on a different proposal, one with sufficient difference to disassociate themselves with house bill and then try to come up with something in reconciliation.

This was raced ahead so House republicans could go on their recess and avoid the CBO analysis of the number of people that will not have coverage once this passed.

But yes... if republicans ran on "death panels" before... Democrats should be running ads with people who lost coverage and face significant health challenges (or... lost a loved one) and citizens should be attending Town Halls to ask their representatives why they took away their coverage.

So much ammo it's gonna be unfair. The singing, the laughing, the hoopla.

That's disgusting. What a bunch of clowns.

The CBO score is still coming and the House still voted on it. There's no upside here. The only way this works is if a different health care bill passes later and the House agrees on it. The Freedom Caucus still holds the chips. The Senate can modify the bill, send it back to the House and then the Freedom Caucus can kill the bill. But the original vote still exists.

Ossoff is probably going to run ads on this on loop in that district in Georgia. The Republicans gave a clear issue for him to fight on beyond Trump.

It's hard to imagine that a senate bill could keep the house freedom caucus but maybe they would vote for whatever comes out since they would be inches away from repealing Obamacare.

You don't just have the filibuster in the senate but multiple republicans who didn't like the 1st version of the bill and this one got worse from a moderates perspective. The GOP doesn't have much to fear in the senate midterms so it'll be interesting to see how they play it.

Bud Light is the swill that this bill deserves.

Democrats should be opening up a case of Chateau Lafite - this is a huge gift for them (though it may actually kill people in the process...)

Oh one other fun talking point besides the pre-existing conditions deal is that Congress exempted itself from having a state opt out of any of the ACA rules. That's going to be another fun ad to watch 1000 times over.

I really hope the congressman who said people should pay for poor lifestyle choices is caught on camera drinking that Bud Light.

I wonder if Congress has ever done a beer celebration for a bill that commentators and voters on both sides of the aisle hate and that they were only able to pass because they were promised it would die in the Senate?

The reason why fiscal responsibility will never be a priority till it's too late is that people simply love "free stuff" so that once someone gets "free stuff" passed, it's basically impossible to take back even if it is really bad and doesn't work. Any attempt to take back "free stuff" will just result in whoever was trying to be fiscally responsible being voted out of office. Hopefully when things finally come crashing down we'll get our priorities straightened out. Till then, we deserve what's coming to us.

You will probably get the same rates with less coverage so the insurance company gets more money.

I'm reading that it's the Dems signing it, as in goodbye to the GOP House majority?

This is both an homage and a literal repetition of what Republicans did when the Clinton tax bill passed in the House in 1993. Same singing, same song. The bill paved the way for budget balancing over the course of the decade and (more arguably) played a role in creating the prosperity of that decade. It also came little more than a year before Democratic majorities in both Houses were annihilated in the 1994 midterm.
