i don't think anyone could check anyone completely, just reduce efficiency a little. i like the idea of Ron on Kobe and Duncan on Bynum a bit more (compared to probably Kobe or Holiday on Rose and Ibaka on Duncan). but overall, this was close. talent similar, offense/defense similar. you have a more balanced defense, Jamers happens to have great defenders capable to bother your best players (to an extent..). Jamers has a bit more talented starting lineup, you have depth. i think this would go 6-7 games but i think in the end, when it's so similar, matchups decide it. the thing with prime Ron Artest, i think he's the ultimate wildcard. If the other team has a super wing player like Kobe to defend, Ron is super valuable. If not, i think he's almost a negative because of his wild offensive ways. Prime Ron saw himself as a two-way superstar, he'd take a ton of touches that should go to Duncan and Rose. Kind of Josh Smith-ish. But vs. a team with Kobe, his defense is a major bonus.
hard to say.. Batum would lose SF matchup on talent too... You basically clearly win 5, lose 3 and 4, so it's about how people see the backcourts and benches.
Jamers PG - Derrick Rose SG - Nicolas Batum SF - Ron Artest PF - Tim Duncan C - Chris Kaman Bench: G - Jamaal Tinsley G/F - Mike Miller F - Hedo Turkuglu VS. Spooner PG Steve Nash SG Joe Johnson/Caron Butler SF Tayshaun Prince/Rashard Lewis PF Elton Brand C Jermaine Oneal/Al Horford ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QazQay PG: Deron Williams SG: Kevin Martin SF: Luol Deng PF: Chris Bosh C: Dwight Howard G: Ben Gordon F: Stephen Jackson C: Greg Monroe VS. Donatas g Steph Curry g Manu Ginobili f Andrei Kirilenko f Dirk Nowitzki c Roy Hibbert bench g Raja Bell f Kenyon Martin c Brook Lopez
Jamers and qaz... Sucks going against donatas on this one because it especially means id be going against myself, but it is what it is...
I'm gonna go Spooner. His 3 main big rotation is good enough to slow down Duncan. And prime Nash running the offense should be fine. The second one I'm going with Donatas because I have no idea how their offense is stopped. I prefer Donatas' bench as well.
Spooner. better backcourt. much deeper. worse frontcourt but a bunch of good defensive bigs to throw at Duncan.
Alright, congrats to the finalists! After the most intense series of the draft, it's Spooner vs. QazQay. Spooner PG Steve Nash SG Joe Johnson/Caron Butler SF Tayshaun Prince/Rashard Lewis PF Elton Brand C Jermaine Oneal/Al Horford VS. QazQay PG: Deron Williams SG: Kevin Martin SF: Luol Deng PF: Chris Bosh C: Dwight Howard G: Ben Gordon F: Stephen Jackson C: Greg Monroe
I think the frontcourt matchup is a wash between the two teams. Backcourt Spooner is clearly better. Vote Spooner
two very well built teams. backcourt - Spooner. frontcourt - Qaz. bench - Spooner. defense - looks about similar. Qaz has Dwight, Spooner has a pair of lesser but very good defensive bigs. Prince and Deng - a wash. Backcourts similar (a solid defender + a sieve). Spooner has a bit more D off the bench but overall D looks comparable. offense - probably Qaz by a little bit. although, if you replace Prince with Caron, i'd give this to Spooner (but then D goes to Qaz...). Very close. this seems a bit similar to the Jamers-Spooner matchup. Spooner has more depth, better backcourt and a bunch of solid defensive bigs to make life more difficult for Dwight. Close, but i'll take Spooner here.
