Starting off with a few exhibition games in the USA Basketball Showcase. Tonight was Puerto Rico. First half was close, the 2nd half ... wasn't. Next exhibition game is August 12th against Slovenia and Luka.
Steve Kerr’s answer when asked about Banchero’s time at the 5, and whether it was a sign of things to come. “He’s gonna play some 5,” Kerr said. “One of the things we really found in [2021] in the Tokyo Olympics was having a 5 who can push the ball and transition and create plays is very difficult for FIBA teams to handle. So he can play some 4, as he showed, but he’ll play plenty of 5, as well.” Source: Tim Bontemps @ ESPN
I agree that the Brooks contract will end up being at worst average value for what he brings in both sides of the ball. I love KH he is a winning player. But no question that is a lot of bread for a player of his caliber.
Hart win shares last season : 6.0 Brooks win shares in his entire career : 6.9 Hart career TS% : 58.3% Brooks career TS% : 51.2% Hart is clearly the more impactful/better player and we very much overpaid Brooks.
Very curious to see how Steve Kerr's group will fare against the raw size of Spain, France, and Lithuania. All of those teams put true 7-footers on the court all the time. Many pros included. Team USA could be in for a long day if either Ingram or Jackson gets banged up. And as much as Kerr would like to run, I suspect we'll see the mid-court tackles all game. Today, France could hardly get a break going because of all the body checks.
