This is a good read on the potential impact of CFB re-alignment on other sports: https://www.theringer.com/college-f...ten-pac-12-conference-realignment-ncaa-future
lol did that actually happen? Because "Texas Tech Tortilla Toss" has a nice ring to it; or are you just being a tad racist (a healthy, fun amount tho). I know nothing about the school besides the Air Raif offense
Damn thats vicious. Speaking of Virginia Tech; I used to go to a basketball camp where we'd play/train with the local HS team. My team's name, in 2007, was "Virginia Columbine".
The renderings make it look like these are going to be club seats a la the Bevo uterus at DKR. Awful idea unless they get students to fill them while the rich ticket holders stay inside the air conditioned lounge.
LOL is right. I was talking to an acquaintance (although I wish she was more than one) that I know from DC and I complimented her football team... turns out she didn't go to UAB like I thought. She went to Vandy (which is also an odd choice for latin american politics but I digress). $25K per player is interesting. That plus the scholarship and housing is basically the equivalent to being a graduate assistant. Seems fair honestly, although I know players do get a stipend at most programs. At the end of the day, the players generate so much money and interest for the school and the TV money from football usually helps fund smaller or more niche sports, which in turn helps more kids get an education that may not have otherwise.
Hopefully with more money they hire more staff. Recruiting is going to be a constant game on top of keeping your current guys happy
They're not doing this for fun. This is a recommendation from their legal team, because they're trying to avoid going to court and getting their asses beat (again). Traditionalists are pooping their pampers, but player autonomy is the morally right thing to strive for. College football will march on. I'm more concerned with the humans participating in it getting proper value for their services.
Probably. But that’s why the NCAA will likely be obsolete sometime in the relatively near future IMO. If you’re gonna play by all these rules, might as well be rules you set yourself.
