I'm at work downtown but wife and kids are at home in Kingwood and sending me pics of the water coming up to our front door. That's farther than it came during Harvey. Stupid construction on Northpark....

Looks like everything is slowly moving south, which will HOPEFULLY give Kingwood/Spring/Woodlands a little reprieve so the water can go down a little bit before the next wave hits.

Rain systems find Houston, then stall 3 days before leaving.

20" of rain the extreme NE Harris County in 24 hours. 13" in the past 6. This is one weird ass storm. Why do we always get these "I'm just gonna stick around for a bit" storms?

Because we are the 'edge' between the warm tropical Gulf Of Mexico and the Cool Fronts forced over the Continent by the Pacific heat Sink (The Blob) in late Summer. It's a convergence zone. It's like tornado alley in the Spring but it moves more Southerly in Summer.

This one is stuck more because of a lack of influence though, There's just no atmospheric movement.

The Beaumont area is all under water. My house is high and dry so far but the place where I work is under water. I have an employee who works for me stuck on I-10 right now unable to move since 5 AM this morning.

Didn't buy, but will definitely now. I figured if we didn't flood during Harvey, we never would. But now we've had 2 very close calls just this year. Both times water came closer to front door than Harvey.

Water is back down to the sidewalk now and receding quickly. Dodged another bullet. Now just wondering how I'm going to get home. But better than having my house flood.

Reasonable projection, I did the same.
    Reasonable to reconsider now.

I'm in a non flood zone but still buy flood insurance. Am I a moron? Everyone around me does as well with these 1000 year storms every year now.

    Ah, those are my people.

Good luck down there, folks. Pls be safe. Being away from home one day is better than getting caught in deep water in a car, etc.
