Hmm, I didn't realize we were talking about Verlander's comments on juiced balls in here before I'd already made a separate thread for it. It seemed like I.D.I.O.T. I guess this is our official All Star Weekend thread as well.

Bregman starting off the HR Derby. Let's see if it fixes his swing.

Hmm, Bregs might have a little trouble hitting 440' twice to get the extra 30 seconds in this derby. They should give a bonus for balls over 45 deg launch angle as well.

16 - just like girl on the broadcast predicted yesterday.
    Not enough.

And that concludes my HR derby watching.

16 HRs is decent. It may not advance him, though.

The extra time for the long home runs is so dumb.

It won't. It's a versus game not a totals game.

Thought the rule is that you can't pitch until the ball lands. Every other player should use that to their advantage.

We'll see how much stamina exists for the remainder.

Sucks Bregman went first. Didn't get to see.

I don't feel like Bregman got very good pitches to hit. Acuna and Vlad, Jr. got perfect hanging HR pitches each time. For Bregs, it looked his were coming in hotter and from a higher angle, so less hang to work with. I didn't expect him to win, especially with the stupid distance rule, but still...

Too bad the AL Rookie of the Month didn't get an invite to this spectacle.

Bregman not exactly backing up his teammate JV on the juiced ball topic.

Bregman dexterously handling the announcers trying to wrap him up in what JV said. He should just replace one of them for the rest of the event; he's much better at it than them.

Surprised Vlad Jr. doesn’t speak English or I guess isn’t comfortable with it during interviews.

Why would he? It completely is a slight to hitters, and all their numbers, if the ball truly is juiced (which I believe it is). Its why nobody puts any stock in a Colorado Rockies hitter's numbers.

This HRD is a continuing example of why juiced balls seem to be widely accepted by everybody except veteran top of the line pitchers. Its pseudo-hypocrisy since the home run ball, and the home run chase during the steroid era, is literally what baseball profited on and made their big comeback on post-strike.
