i'm not sure that he is. he just has less competition at 2B than the OF position so naturally he'd dominate the votes in comparison. judge is probably the most popular player. most jersey sales, yankee, etc...
JV and Cole got in. JV won't pitch though. Bregman was an easy choice since Perez was the Royals rep. I'm really surprised at Springer making it, but that's awesome. Wouldn't feel right without the WS MVP getting his due!
yeah i know that but all-star votes doesn't necessarily say who's the most popular. you can also stuff the ballot (look at the royals votes from years past). read my second sentence. it's easier to get votes when there's no competition. there's a lot of competition at outfield. none at 2B. altuve barely made top 15 in jersey sales, judge was the top jersey sale as a rookie. pretty sure more casuals have heard of judge than altuve. and there's more yankees fans nationwide. i don't care to argue it either way lol. im happy for altuve.
We don't have to argue. You may have a point, but also consider that judge is a unanimous all-star, the deminishing of votes because of competition would probably have less effect on him that a guy like springer. But I get your point, I should have read your full post.
Final vote candidates: 1B Jesus Aguilar, Milwaukee 1B Brandon Belt, San Francisco 1B Matt Carpenter, St. Louis 2B Max Muncy, Los Angeles SS Trea Turner, Washington SS Jean Segura, Seattle SS Andrelton Simmons, Anaheim LF Andrew Benintendi, Boston LF Eddie Rosario, Minnesota DH Giancarlo Stanton, New York
Should've been Benintendi and Rosario for Springer and Brantley originally. Agreed... i think you can put morton, snell, or paxton over berrios. it's too bad the jays and tigers took up 2 pitching spots. they might end up getting in anyways though
Man.. Hope Springer catches fire quickly. Would be a bad look, but glad he's popular. Altuve huge vote too ! H-Town champion skills !!
McHugh deserves respect. Much respect to Bregman too. He struggled early-on this season, then unleashed
Yuli hitting 15 points higher than Moreland with more RBIs. Fewer HRs and lower OPS. That one could have gone either way. Also, Gattis's numbers very close to Cruz at DH. Another close one.
After the June 24th game, I made a comment that Bregman had done nothing to distinguish himself as an all star (essentially he wasn't a "given"). He was hitting .259 with an .820 OPS. He had 11 home runs and 42 RBI. In the 13 games since then, he has hit 6 home runs, driven in 15 runs, raised his average 22 points to .281 and his OPS to .903. Glad he reads this forum.
