He was pretty optimistic about Mallet and Osweiler.

Pray and hope Watson doesn't play in the first 3-6 weeks of the season. If he does play, he will be the next David Carr.

I doubt it. The offensive line is better than what Carr had.

He better be and stay ready because Savage's body is a ticking time bomb.

I'm definitely a little worried but only because I want more from him and am eager. However, say what you will about this team, BOB, and Rick Smith, they ABSOLUTELY CRUSH the first round picks for the last decade. Fuller is hurt, but beyond that this team has the last 8 first round picks starting in solid spots (eff you duane). So I trust them.

It is better to be an optimist and be proven a fool than to be a pessimist and be proven right.

Does Watson suck or do we just have a shitty offensive system?

We know the system sucks for sure. The jury is out on Watson.

Well I'm certainly not being pessimistic either though. The pessimist view would suggest that he is terrible and he'll always be terrible. The optimist view would be that even though he performed poorly, he's actually super awesome and will soon prove to be an elite QB. The realist view is that he had flags coming in and he performed poorly but he showed some promise that hopefully one day will be realized.

So many fluff pieces about Savage ahead of Game 1 of season. Let's see if he is able to live up to it.

I don't think anyone has been dogging him. The only thing that worries me about Savage is can he continue scoring. Especially in the red zone. We know Watson will.

Maybe, that's not a high bar to clear, but it's still one of the worst OLines in the NFL.

This and this goes for any young QB with obvious strengths and weaknesses. Right now Watson is not a good NFL starting QB, but if he can improve his accuracy and decision making he can be the solution at QB for a decade. Some figure it out and some don't. I won't be shocked either way.

My problem is taking a guy with these question marks that high. He falls to the 2nd or 3rd and you think you can fix his accuracy issues, fine.

But essentially using two first round picks is too risky IMO. If the offense blows again we might end up with a high draft position next year.

Yes, but it makes the trades of our top 2 picks much worse.

I guess it depends on how likely you think Watson will improve. I think it is 50/50 he is a starter in 3 years. Are those good odds? No but that is the nature of the QB position.

I would be upset about the trade other than the fact that we have needed a QB for so long and have tried retreads without success. Also there is an element of "**** or get off the pot" for the coach and front office. If Watson fails maybe McNair will actually bring in change.

Unless Savage leads the team to a Super Bowl this year if Watson is not the starter next year this will have to be seen as a terrible failure.

Well...Since Savage is a Free Agent next year, Watson will be the only QB under contract.........starter by default...lol.
