Kyle Tucker hit homer #9. Jake Rogers went 3-4 with 3 RBI for Hi-A, as they put up 13 runs. Franklin Perez didn't have his best day, as he went just 3.1, giving up 2 runs with 3 Ks.
Nice! i was just about to post a minor league update. Whitley's going in the top of the second. QC up 2-0 early. Paulino goes tonight.
Forrest Whitley vs. Beloit: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, K Ronel Blanco is picking him up out of the bullpen; he's allowed 3 hits and struck out 4 in 3 innings so far. Quad Cities leads Beloit 6-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th; Chuckie Robinson has 2 homers for the Banditos.
Trent Thornton vs. Albuquerque: 6 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, 3 K Fresno leads 6-2 at stretch time. Colin Moran is 3-4 with an RBI single and 2 runs scored. Reed has driven in 3. D.J. Fisher is 2-2 with 2 walks and a run scored.
Went to the Hooks game Saturday... Ferguson looked really good in the field too. Had a nice throw home that saved the game.
8 of the 10 ahead of him in average play in the PCL's biggest launching pads. Fresno's ballpark is actually pretty neutral.
DJ don't care, he's slashing .358 /.417 /.670 / 1.086 at home. Also just noticed, 207 of his 219 PAs are against pitchers older than he is.
That's encouraging; haven't seen many reports on his defense throughout his pro career and was wondering about that. Nice to know he at least looked good for a game. Ready to see if he can hit in Fresno; as an older prospect we won't have a good idea of what he might be until he gets there.
Carmen Beneditti, 12th round RFer out of UofMichigan, is starting to turn it on in his first full season. In May, he's putting up .313 /.478 /.521 /.998 (17 games) as part of the OF rotation with Dawson, Cameron and Wrenn (the first 2 are really, really struggling).
Benedetti's seen an uptick in his numbers after a slow start, which is nice to see after a .219/.306/.281 April. His OBP and slugging are both in the .400s (although the slugging could be a little higher). He's also coming off a stretch in which he drew a walk in 9 consecutive games.
