Trump will find the best people to build another Virginia, perhaps somewhere off the coast. This one will vote accordingly.

She still have to win Nevada, Iowa, and NH - which are not guaranteed.

Hope you are right - it's nearly impossible for him to win without Virginia - he might be able to pull a 269 - 269 tie though.

If he wins Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Iowa, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Ohio, I will think it's part of a bigger sweep happening and he'll definitely flip either Virginia or Pennsylvania or both. You are basically giving him every swing state except those two.

That's my point is that if he loses Virginia there is no way he can win this election. He better be focusing big time on that state

His strategy is a Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania flip while holding onto North Carolina.

Doesn't need Virginia. Clinton just has to take 2 of 4 in Virginia, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Certainly - but all of those are much more likely to go Dem than FL/OH/VA. You said if he wins those 3, he wins the Presidency - that's not close to being true. He still has to win another swing state in there that has been trending more and more Democratic over the last decade. Obama won NV/IA/NH by 6+% in 2012, compared to 1% for Florida, 2% for Ohio, 4% for Virginia.

I don't think he will either, but that is clearly his strategy.

I thought Trump's strategy was to say lots of offensive and dumb things daily. A strategy that he is succeeding at.

Not that it makes me an expert, but I grew up in VA and am hanging there at the moment. Check the report on his speech in Loudoun Co., the wealthiest county in the U.S.

Clinton has a huge lead among Blacks and Latinos, and a big lead among women. There simply aren't enough non-college educated (not that there's anything wrong with that!) male White working class voters to go along with "I'll vote for my checker at the 7/11 before I vote for Hillary!" voters and ardent Republicans that will stay with the party no matter how insane their candidate is to pull this off for Trump, unless some stunning development unforeseen by anyone causes the majority of the country to forget just how much they despise the guy.

He's blown it, folks. Obama's poll numbers have gotten their own bounce after the convention, and they were already trending up. While that guarantees nothing for Hillary (see Gore, Albert - circa 2000, when Bill had an approval rating of near 60% and Gore didn't have him campaigning for the ticket), it has to help. Hillary is far smarter politically than Al Gore. The economy is doing well, despite Trump's constant bellowing that we're doomed. People are starting to figure out that Trump is constantly lying about damned near everything and many are realizing that the GOP has been doing it for years. Americans tend not to appreciate being lied to on a continual basis (apparently we'll put up with a lie every once in a while), and Trump seems incapable of closing his mouth when a lie is starting to come out, and boy, are they spewing out. Gobs of them.

More and more news is leaking of a revolt within the GOP against the Donald. Those Republicans who were worried about their primaries and were keeping their opinions to themselves are largely past that point now, with a few exceptions, so they are more free to blast Trump if they've a mind to. I think we'll start to see more of that happening soon from candidates running for office in states where Trump is polling badly. In my thread about an internal revolt inside the GOP leadership and how they're attempting to see if they can get the guy to quit, we will probably get more news soon, in my opinion. Time is running out on that front, however, if the GOP hopes to have any chance at all in the general.

The polling numbers will be of continual interest, of course, but especially over the next couple of weeks. Fox News has Hillary with a 10 point lead this morning. If a lead in that ballpark appears to solidify, we could get more than another Democrat in the White House. We could see a Democratic Senate, as well. All my opinion, of course.

I think the people will snub Mr. Johnson come November, Eddie.
