2015 Kobe is not a starting caliber player in the NBA. Wizards Jordan was a borderline all star.

Kobe made the all-star game last year and the year before, yet played a combined 41 games. He may very well make it again this year.

    :p

Seriously though, Jordan was not that good at the Wizards, certainly not that first year. Not even a "borderline" all-star. Voted in his first year back, and Stern pretty much hand-picked him his second year back, partly so he could play with Yao Ming and the NBA could show Jordan with Yao for the Chinese fans to see.

I remember seeing him live in the Summit those two years and saying ... well, he's just a jump shooter now.

And Kobe has been injured for two years, and clearly not right, but wanted to try to go out on his terms (vs injuries), which he a right to. Weird comparison this thread.

Jordan averaged 23/6/5 in the first year with Wizards, 20/6/4 in the second, "not even a 'borderline' All-Star"?! Yeah he was mostly a midrange jump shooter as a Wizard - he was nearing 40! I suppose the likes of Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen, and Dirk are all "not that good" to you then, because they were/are "just jump shooters".

MJ was good enough to start for most of the teams then, and KB should be playing in the D league now.
