It's the "World Cup of Gridiron Football" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_IFAF_World_Championship http://www.americanfootballinternat...e-announced-for-2015-ifaf-world-championship/ The format/bracket is somewhat confusing.
So, this is apparently the 5th version of this. The US has won the last 2 and did not participate in the first 2 (both won by Japan). Canada only just played in the 2011 version (finishing 2nd). Even with very restrictive rules placed on the US about who can and cannot play (Professionals from any US or Canadian league were ineligible, Player must have graduated from college—current college players were ineligible All levels of NCAA and NAIA athletics were required to be represented, not just DI-A, Players must be no more than one year removed from college), the US is still a very heavy favorite. This seems to be a pointless tournament. American football just doesn't have the world wide participation that other sports have. This year was supposed to be held in Stockholm but was moved to Canton, OH after they couldn't nail down any sponsors in Sweden.
That's one of the problems. They put it in a country that has no history of the sport. It should have been either the USA or Canada to host it. Maybe England could be a good host for this tournament because they also host regular season NFL games played over there annually. Mexico is another one because they have a long, rich history playing American gridiron football and it's a popular sport in Mexico City and the Monterrey area/Northern Mexico region.
All the games will streamed live on http://ifafworldchampionship.org/watch-live and on ESPN3/WatchESPN

leroy, too much equipment needed and too many "rules" for the entire world to pick the sport up and to have kids in the streets and in parks playing it overseas. ^ That's the reason. Futbol is extremely easy to play for everyone based on that. Dang. Even here it's DOS A CERO. LOLs.
