Marc Stein: I'm no @Chad Ford, so hope I'm getting these names right. Players on Rockets' radar: Adetokunbo, Gobert, Karasev, Nogueira, Schroeder Twitter @ESPNSteinLine Assuming we get the 19th pick for TRob and we draft a player to stash overseas, who would you pick?
The Rockets are in advanced talks on a cap-clearing trade of forward Thomas Robinson, with a deal potentially “imminent,” a person with knowledge of their plans said on Tuesday. Houston Chronicle
The Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs have shown interest in Robinson, according to another individual with knowledge of the Rockets efforts to move Robinson’s $3.5 million salary next season. Though it would be difficult for the Spurs to make any sort of deal for Robinson directly with the Rockets and would likely have to add a third team in a larger deal. Houston Chronicle
Funny how SA is interested in Robinson, don't know if I want to let him go now. Those guys know young talent
The Rockets have also had talks with the Chicago Bulls, according to the person familiar with negotiations so far, but he said that unlike with the Spurs and Cavaliers, he did not know if the Bulls were interested in Robinson or could be part of a larger deal. Houston Chronicle
Darren Wolfson: Asked an #NBA executive for some names hot-and-heavy in trade talks. Said: Granger, M. Ellis (sign-&-trade), Thomas Robinson, and Vesely. Twitter @DarrenWolfson
Daryl Morey: Anyone who says they know who will succeed from '13 draft is full of it-lots of talent but as usual will hinge on role/opportunity/workethic Twitter @dmorey
Yes, so we can stash him and not worry about the cap hit. I'll take the sharp-shooting Russian, please. Feel like the Greek will be a bust.
I think Schroeders workout was today or maybe yesterday. That was the last workout scheduled for Houston.
Who would the Rockets take if they meet their objective to shed Robinson for a late first-rounder? It's virtually guaranteed to be an international player that they can stash overseas and thus keep unwanted additional salary off of their books. Russia's Sergey Karasev, Greece's Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brazil's Lucas Nogueira, Germany's Dennis Schroeder and France's Rudy Gobert are all known targets for the Rockets.
I voted for Bebe Nogueira. The kid is only 21 years old (still 20 for another month). Even if the Rockets end up with Dwight Howard, that's a great pick for the future. Hard to turn down a big man with potential. I figure the Rockets will bring him over in 2014 or 2015.
