have you tried taking the AVR out of the chain and seeing if that is the problem. You could see if it needs a firmware update. How old is it?

PS3 can decode them all but it does not bitstream, it only sends the audio in PCM format, which is a good thing because in 5 years the reciever...
is there any actual benefit? My HD box only has DVI so I would have to buy that cable to get rid of my analog cables.
the big issue is more titles rather than price.
I buy BD also but if I want a movie that is not available on BD i have no problem going dvd still. Also most BDs still cost to much.
witht he PS3 upscaling, and the higher cost of old crappy Blu-Ray titles, I still buy DVDs. In a few years the cost will come down.
