correct, you do not need the fan, it just happen to come with the case i bought, which can also be used for a CD-ROM/R my maxtor (pictured)...
i vote for the make your own enclosure option. I got a fat 160 GB drive for about $120 at MicroCenter and a $45 enclosure with fan! [img]...
