Astros interviewed Nationals' 3rd base coach Bo Porter on Thursday http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...-first-candidate-to-interview-for-astros-job/ Also, had a meeting with Larry Bowa but for unknown reasons. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/14/astros-meeting-with-larry-bowa-about-something/ Who do you want to be the next manager of your Houston Astros?
I am a fan of Joe McEwing, Dave Martinez, and Joey Cora. All played in the big leagues for a good number of years.
It definitely won't matter as far as winning but it definitely matters as far as teaching young players how to play and be professionals. Some of our top talent may very well get a call next season so it's going to be important.
I'm guessing. I don't know nearly enough about Tony D as a manager to be able to make an educated prediction on how he would do as a manager full-time, but if the team is really looking to more or less completely hit the reset button on the franchise, hiring the interim manager who had been the manager at AAA seems like an odd move.
Rays bench coach Dave Martinez was interviewed earlier in the week http://brianmctaggart.mlblogs.com/2012/09/14/luhnow-meets-with-bowa-on-baseball-related-matters/
I dont know much about Tony D either, but I do know his previous team started playing a lot better once he left.
