I'm suprised nobody has whipped this bad boy out yet...
Steve Francis of the Houston Rockets stole the #1 pick overall in the 2002 Draft from the Bulls' Jerry Krause, who nodded off at the wrong time.
Jerry Krause is thinking- "God, I hate my life."- as he turns away from watching Jerry West congratulate Steve Francis on the Rockets getting the #1 pick in the 2002 Draft.
"Where have I gone wrong? One year we're 6 time nba champs. The next we're getting spoon fed lottery picks.I need my daddy back to spoon feed me some wins............Come back Daddy, Come back. Don't stay in Dc, come back to CHI. reffering to MJ, of course, there once dynasty type player
gb--I'm not saying that the Chicago Bulls will not be good again and that Chandler and Curry will not improve and maybe even become stars. But lets say they don't...because there is still a lot of developing these two need to do.... When do you give up on Krause? When do you realize he sucks? When?
Why are we even talking about getting rid of Krause? Aside of MJ, he acquired and hired every piece of the puzzle that lead to six rings. He knows something about the kind of players and teams you need to win in the league. His first plan went belly-up. But what a plan. T-Mac, Jermaine Oneal and Elton Brand on the frontline? Ron Artest/Eddie Jones and Jamal Crawford in the backcourt? Thats a championship team. We missed T-Mac when Orlando suddenly dumped a 45 win team and offered him a chance to come home. Fizer was drafted for Portland to trade for Oneal, but when Dale Davis went on the market, they told him the only way to outbid Indiana was to give up Crawford too---he said no. (maybe in retrospect...) The vision was right---the execution, largly through no fault of his own, went sour. Why dump him for that? You give him a chance to re-do it. If this iteration goes south, then yeah, it's time. But I wouldn't count on it.
I would like to see back to back pics of Alvin Gentry and Dominique Wilkins. When Atlanta found out they were not going to be in the top 3, NBC showed Dom first and then flashed to Gentry, as if Al was saying "Give me my pick, byatch!"
"Aside of MJ, he acquired and hired every piece of the puzzle that lead to six rings. " -gettinbranded Yeah...aside of MJ. So what...he surrounded a great player with a bunch of role players, who would have never gone anywhere without Jordan. The best thing Krause did in Chicago was hiring Phil Jackson. Aside from that, I don't think he had much to do with it. He also was a huge part in the breaking up of that team in '98. I think they were all willing to come back for another year.
I totally agree with you, Diehard. While the role players are important, basically Krause rode the coattails of the greatest player ever...a player he did not acquire. Put jordan on the court with pippen and a couple of defense playing kangaroos, and they probably still get 6 rings. And so what about vision? Vision is crap if it isn't executed correctly. "If's" are lame. I don't care what he COULD have done, what he has done is put together a crappy team, after gutting a championship team. How could you ever be a bulls fan after the management decides to disband a team after a championship? Congrats, Chi-town. You will, from this day forward, be referred to as the chicago marlins. PS i like how that "vision" enabled him to deal a very good known quantity to the clips for a quite risky quantity, that will likely JET just as he develops, if he actually develops. Brilliant foresight, Crumbs....
How many great players never got rings? How many great players got 4,5,6 rings? Granted, MJ was the best player perhaps ever---but winning isn't simply a matter of adding "any ol' role players". I'm not saying Krause did it all---no! not at all---I'm saying that he deserves some credit. If Jerry West had put Pip, Grant, Rodman and Kukoc around him nobody would say that. If your own CD had done it you wouldn't say that... I think you're (both) just lemmings and just going with what you read instead of bothering to think for yourself.
Scott Brooks got a ring? does it matter? The point is MJ was the team! What Bull from the championship years went on to a stable career after MJ left. Ron Harper, defensive worn out point guard with no jumper. Pippen, need I say anymore? Longley, who is that guy? Kukoc, that guy has been unheard of since his chicago days. The only player I had any respect for was Rodman because he did it without MJ in Detroit. Otherwise the guy was a nut case and no one wanted him anyway seriously. Since then Jerry has only managed to aquire a few more role players, forgetting he hasn't got MJ to do everything for him. If the Bulls are still in the lotto next year, I suggest you reconsider your thoughts on this master mind. Loser...
I can't believe this, the guy i passed on in 1999 comes back and takes the number one pick from me. To make things worse, the guy i took instead of Francis, is now playing all-star ball for the Clips. Go Rockets!!
