Marcus Camby Traded to Clips

All the Clips are giving up in return is a 2nd round pick. This according to ESPN.com... clearly the Nuggets are trying to get rid of salary.

Kaman and Camby at the big spots, nearly 7 blocks a game

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed in principal on a trade with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their replacement for Elton Brand, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers will only have to surrender a second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned by the Nuggets purely for payroll relief.

Not sure why the Clippers would do this. Camby, although useful, is an aging and his offense stinks. And they have Kaman. I dont know why they keep going after PFs (Brand, Okafor, Camby) when they have Camby. Why arent they trying to get a 3 man such as Iguodala or Artest? That would balance their team out a lot more than having 2 centres, no?

Very strange move IMO.

Unless the Clips think either Camby or Kaman can play together, I don't see what this does for them. Perhaps since Camby's contract expires in two years, they can now trade him to the Knicks for Z-Bo!!! This could be the perfect trade for the Knicks.

From the Nuggets standpoint, they also must have something up their sleeve. Camby is the only NBA caliber C on their team. Perhaps this makes it official they are giving up on the upcoming season.

We don't have the capspace to get him. We'd have to give up players to match the contract.

the nuggets must be cutting salary b/c this is a stupid trade.

clips right now bolster a very athletic lineup with very good defenders. they'll sitll be a playoff contending team now.

why can't we get camby for a 2nd round pick or luther?
