Adams is gone in 2 yrs tops Uncle Jeffie as well We won't be in the lottery again IMO I like the idea of another bully Look at KAT and GOBERT Perhaps its time to make teams adapt to US rather than trying to Adapt to them Edey - Sengun - Jabari is a huge front line - should be strong defensively in the half court set . We don't have to switch everything - That was a Anti-Golden State defense Folx will have to learn to fight through picks again Rocket River
Linebacker with a basketball. Seriously, if Udoka doesn't find a way to play Boban, he's not likely to find a way to play Edey.
Boban would never sniff 40-20 and 37-11 in the two final games of the NCAA Tournament. Shaq, Ming, and Jokic maybe but not Boban. That’s like comparing Anthony Davis to Jeff Green because they are tall athletic forwards. Edey would cement this team as big and tough which is what they’ve lacked with guys like Jabrari and Sengun playing center.
Kat and Gobert work because of their defense and KaT/Naz Reid stretch ability. If they both can't shoot 3s the offense wouldn't work cuz teams would just clog the paint. Anyway, arguing now is pointless. I'd rather wait till the draft combine and see how fast or slow he really is.
I agree, I want a shooter with that top pick .... there's 4 dudes that shoot 40% or better from 3 last year projected to go in the lottery, I want one of them. There's about 6 more guard/forward types projected in the 2nd round that also shoot 40%+ from 3 .... I might be tempted to take one of them over another big considering you have Sengun, Adams & Landale at the 5 spot. Load up on shooters, maybe you get lucky with one of them. But if we're going with a UCLA big, I prefer the 7'3" dude on that roster - Aday Mara. You might actually be able to get that guy as a UDFA if he doesn't return to UCLA for another season. He was projected as an early #1 pick not too long ago ....
In 2015 Boban averaged 17 and 11, led EuroLeague in rebounding, and made all-Euroleague first team. EuroLeague has a vastly, vastly higher level of competition than NCAA ball. I absolutely do think Boban would have dominated if he had played in American college ball. You're categorically overestimating how important it is to be a college star. There are amazing college players every year who never even make an NBA rotation. Edey will probably be another one of those.
We have Adams. We do not need Edey. He's one of those guys we can sign later in his career for peanuts if we are desperate for a back up big. If we really don't see anything we really need in this draft then trade the pick. In all honesty I think we're already developing enough players to try and sign someone that will live on RGV for years.
Clingan is more of an Ime player than Edey. But you know who's better than both. Ulrich Chomche. This kids potential is through the roof. I'm talking the potential to be anywhere from a Giannis to a Western Conference Finals Dwight Howard. No homo.
Ridiculous. Edey wouldn’t even be a first round pick in most any other draft. His ceiling is back up center on a non-contender. He instantly degrades your defense with his extremely slow feet and there’s MAYBE 5 starting centers in the NBA he could guard. Boban could guard him and he’s about the slowest center I’ve ever seen.
Hard disagree. I think he would have played the 4 a few decades ago. I don't think he's laterally quick enough to play the 4 in the modern NBA. He also can't spread the floor the way a modern nba power forward usually does. Modern power forwards are usually just wings. Here's a list of every team in the NBA's starting power forwards. Please tell me which of them most remind you of Sengun, or which one Sengun would be well suited to guarding. Atlanta Hawks: Jalen Johnson 6'8 Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum 6'7 Brooklyn Nets: Dorian Finney-Smith 6'7 Charlotte Hornets: Miles Bridges 6'7 Chicago Bulls: DeMar DeRozan 6'6 Cleveland Cavaliers: Evan Mobley 6'11 Dallas Mavericks: PJ Washington 6'7" Detroit Pistons: Simone Fontecchio 6'7" Golden State Warriors: Draymond Green 6'6 (might be 6'7 Jonathan Kuminga next season) Houston Rockets: Jabari Smith Jr 6'10" Indiana Pacers: Pascal Siakam 6'8 Los Angeles Clippers: Kawhi Leonard 6'7 Los Angeles Lakers: Rui Hachimura 6'8 Memphis Grizzlies: Vince Williams Jr 6'4 Miami Heat: Nikola Jovic 6'10 Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo 6'11 Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl Anthony Townes 7'0 (but shoots 41% from 3) New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson 6'5 New York Knicks: OG Anunoby 6'7 Oklahoma City Thunder: Jalen Williams 6'5 Orlando Magic: Paolo Banchero 6'10 Philadelphia 76ers: Tobias Harris 6'8 Phoenix Suns: Kevin Durant 6'11 Portland Trailblazers: Jerami Grant 6'7 Sacramento Kings: Keegan Murray 6'8 San Antonio Spurs: Jeremy Sochan 6'8 Toronto Raptors: Scottie Barnes 6'7 Utah Jazz: Taylor Hendricks 6'9 Washington Wizards: Kyle Kuzma 6'9 Summary: of 30 teams, only 8 have power forwards taller than 6'8. Of those 8, Durant shoots 41% from 3, Townes shoots 41% from 3, Jovic shoots 40% from 3, Hendricks shoots 38% from 3, Mobley shoots 37% from 3, Smith Jr shoots 36% from 3, Banchero shoots 34% from 3, Kuzma shoots 33% from 3 and only Giannis shoots poorly from 3 at 27%. Of course, Giannis is an athletic freak of nature. I think Townes is the only one of those guys who moves similarly to Sengun, but again, he knocks down 41% of his threes so he's a beastly floor spacer. Sengun shot 29% from 3 this year. I'd love to hear how you envision Sengun succeeding in this role, or how our spacing would work.
So you're proposing we get a center who can compensate for Sengun by being a defensive player of the year caliber player AND shooting 41% from 3? Because he'd have to be capable of both of those things to achieve the balance the Wolves have found with those two guys. Edey can't do either of those things.
Perhaps you are right Maybe I am behind the times. Sengun feels so undersized at the Center position Rocket River
Guys, defense is not our problem. We protect the paint well, we get back on defense, and we clean the glass. We can go on feel, or we can go on facts. Adding an older Amen, a healthy Tari, and Steven Adams… Size is the last of our worries.
Yeah just look at Ivey in NCAA vs NBA. The gap between the 2 is pretty huge that's why it's always a surprise to see players like Ant.
