So he took the job long before Trump announced he was running for President again. Hmmm sounds like this case is not election interference.
He'd probably love seeing the court have to shut down with crazies in MAGA hats storming with death threats, breaking in doors, windows, and beating security with flag poles and spraying bear spray in their eyes.
Haha, the optics are bad. He leaves the admin to prosecute this case. I don't think it was a secret that this was Biden's #1 opponent, even in 2022.
They don't care about the optics. If you think this looks bad, just wait until Joe "wins" another election against all odds. As I said, they don't care and there's nothing we can do about it. Our democratic republic is DEAD.
I think it's safe to say that Trump and a certain segment of the population would be complaining about optics no matter where this guy came from.
Its trump's only hope at this point... January 6 from his maga supporters in front of the courthouse...
also, no one from his family / inner circle showed up in court to stand by him . some commentator made the point that even the Serial Killer’s (Jeffrey Dahmer) parents showed up in court to stand by him
You know, seeing this interaction just makes me less confident in the rule of law. The judge is clearly admonishing trump's legal team but its clear that there is really no teeth to that admonishment and no punishment for his previous or expected continued violations. Yet some person off the street that even looks or makes one comment gets slapped with jail time.
Perfect example of how trump's lack of respect for the rule of law is pushed down to his legal representation... the judge asks a direct question for existing case law to support the defense...
I wonder why the Southern District of NY couldn't step in and just indict Trump for threatening a judge? 18 USC seems like a statute that fits here. It allows for Trump to face ramifications for what he's trying to do here, and take some responsibility away from Judge Merchan from having to take the bait. Obviously Trump wants Merchan to put him in jail overnight so he can go to his rallies claiming to be a hardened political prisoner, and liken himself to Navalny or Mandela. Knowing damn well that Trump will have the most luxurious overnight stay in prison history with all the secret service protections he gets. Trump knows prison won't really be prison so he is trying to bait the judge here. I think SDNY should step in here, and relieve this Judge of playing into his hands... IF THEY CAN (correct me if that cannot happen legally).
The judge is in a tough spot, put him in jail and trump gets what he wants, he wants to push this to where he is perceived as "persecuted"......Can he just move up the $1000 fine to something like 10,000 for each occurrence? If trump is thrown in jail, do the SS go in with him? trump is right about one thing, there is a 2 tiered system and trump is the benefactor, simply because he cant act like an adult ...................
