There were tsunami alerts in the Philippines and Japan. Those were cancelled pretty fast and it doesn’t look like the tsunami was very severe. Seeing this morning that the death toll is now 9 but there are still many people trapped.

From some of those videos it looks like that this could’ve been much worse but good construction likely saved lives. Especially the elevated freeway.
