lmao what? Jalen being inefficient is a major deal, even when we win, because 22 shots to get 26 points will never work against the best teams. Hell, it wouldn’t have worked against the bulls if Jeff Green wasn’t a whopping +21.
He was being guarded by Bald Eagle all game. Bulls may not be the best team but Bald Eagle is acknowledged to be one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. Check out Caruso being 3/11 and DeRozan being 4/15. It was hard fought game by both teams Jalen gave as good as he got. I don't really get this type of argument just complaining for the sake of complaining. All you are saying is a hypothetical but somehow that hypothetical is enough to slam Jalen even if it only happened in your head. You really crediting Jeff Green's +21 and slamming Jalen when Jalen had the 2nd highest at +13? So if Jalen was so bad how come he had the highest plus minus of the starters then? You really that much if a smooth brain and didn't realize you are destroying your own argument?
That intensity and confidence we played with that first 1,5 quarter was great to see. Very 22-game winning streak 07-08 Rockets like. But then Tate started to shoot threes, we didn't play efficiently and let up on defense. 3rd quarter we came out with force, but then again in the 4th, especially FVV in that last 2-minutes 10-0 Bulls run we let up. Cannot just fool around with the clock, dribble into a crowd and shoot threes - looking at you too Jabari - and hope Bulls miss. Not guarding Dosunmu on some of those threes was also poor recognition as well as not feeding the hot hand. FVV had a really bad game even if he dishes out a few nice ones. But our team just needs to get consistent with playing their own game on offense and keeping the same intensity as well as play smarter on defense at times. They all need to get after it like Jock and Jeff Green did! Brooks was great this game, he was locked in. Silly ejection by inept referees who called ticky tack fouls or anticipation fouls yet the physical stuff was let go. DeRozan frustration foul was odd AF and an anamoly, but it's not surprise there was confrontation with the way this was officiated. All in all solid win, loved our bench and Green's play under control, but FVV and particularly Jabari has to be better.
https://official.nba.com/pool-repor...nights-chicago-bulls-at-houston-rockets-game/ The Pool Report interview was conducted by Jonathan Feigen (Houston Chronicle) with Crew Chief Curtis Blair following tonight’s Bulls at Rockets game. QUESTION: We will start with the Flagrant 2 called on DeMar DeRozan what was the ruling on that, what was the logic behind that? BLAIR: DeRozan was assessed a Flagrant Foul penalty 2 because the contact was excessive and unnecessary. QUESTION: And then the scrum that followed there was a technical on Dillon Brooks, why was he ruled to be the only one to receive any kind of technical? BLAIR: After review, DeRozan was already assessed a Flagrant Foul penalty 2 so he was ejected. All the other participants were there to defuse the situation. QUESTION: In a situation like that can there be any additional penalties on DeRozan because he’s already received a flagrant 2? BLAIR: No QUESTION: Dillion Brooks was ejected with one technical foul. Why did that merit an ejection with just one instead of two technical fouls. BLAIR: Because Brooks escalated the situation, therefore he was given a technical foul and ejected.
The talent level or intelligence of that 2018 team was not there but they have heart and the schedule is soft.
Interesting game. Chicago came out flat, and the Rockets torched them on the break in the first quarter. Then the Bulls started playing 2 bigs and that gave them some life as the Rockets cooled off. Jabari struggled the whole game, but he gritted it out—playing the entire fourth quarter. Jalen had just enough to hold them off. FVV's bad fourth quarter (especially the TOs) was hard to watch. At the end of the game, we had FVV --struggling Jalen -- doing fine Jabari --struggling Jock --doing fine Amen/Holiday/Bullock --doing ok And then there's Jeff Green, who had a nice first half (4-5 shote) but only one make in the second half (two crucial offensive boards, though) Brooks getting tossed certainly put everyone else under pressure. But they made enough plays to beat a 33-win Bulls team. It's hard to be negative when we win a physical game in which we would have folded in the past. Udoka has brought this group a long way.
That's irrelevant since I made the comparison to the 07-08 team...and only about mentality and how they used defense to get themselves going and keep Bulls from accomplishing anything. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yeah, it was kind of a meh game from Jalen in the end. 45% from the field, 33% from three, only made half his FTs. Took him over 40 minutes and 22 shots to score 26, which in today's game, is kinda whatever. But it was still better than he's been most of the season. I'll take it, honestly.
I know there are Jalen Fans but the ongoing theme throughout this season has been Udoka, Sengün, Defense, rebounding, young guys and veterans. There is always Next season.
Also, props to the team's defense against the Bulls. The Rockets only allowed only 38 uncontested shots. Granted, some of those closeouts weren't high-level, but it does point to how few breakdowns are happening. And on offense, we're making our uncontested shots. With ball movement and the break, we got 53 uncontested looks against the Bulls and made almost 53% of them, led by Jalen's 7 of 14. That seems to be his new average, and while some of those aren't going on the highlight reel, that's winning basketball. And 40 minutes with a team-high 25.8% usage, Green only had 2 TOs. That's terrific. He does seem to have turned a corner. I hope he continues with his newfound consistency.
Jaters are persistent gotta give them that! Without J we lose last night, but yeah lets talk about "eFfIcIeNcY" lol
Without him we don't win last night. His overall play lately has been great to watch. He needs to have more babies with geriatric gold diggers if that's what it does for him.
But that is why I say show out against the bad and show up against the better, and Caruso is claimed by some people to be elite defender and he was tasked with guarding Green who did good against an elite defender, which is not the same as playing Wizards So his percentage was about right, being he was 9/18 at one point and finished 1/4, whoopty doo doo He was one off of going 50% from the game, that is efficient Of course we wanted him to get 30 points, maybe next game he will hit more FT and 3's Now school us on how many points you scored when your team allowed you 20 shots in a game.....you played the game on some level right? Jr high etc? Those numbers are 6/10 from two and 4/12 from three, the latter stat could take a extra 3pt make, but shooting 60% from two is a game any player would take, or even non players who dream of actually playing in any game on any level
Glorious game.......wonderful to see vets like DeRozen getting rattled and resorting to dirty play because Jalen is cooking him like fried okra! DD
Green shot 5/10...... and then 5/12 in second half To non players that would look inefficient because those non players think all the scorers should make 6/9 or 8/11 in a half, being a guard at who has to create a bunch of his shots Of course we want him to make 70% instead of 50%, but that's not how it goes
Jalen is the gravity that Sengun was when he was playing also. Another thing to consider. His value to the team now isn't just his makes and misses. It's how many open looks he's generating, hockey assists etc from teams just hedging towards his side the moment he has the ball.
