Yep, a team that is very likely to be in contention for the WS again should absolutely trade one of their star hitters. That makes total sense. Fans and teammates alike would take that very well. Surely there wouldn't be any sort of frustration in the clubhouse. All around great idea.
the only way that Tucker gets moved before FA is if this year is a flop. Our team is set up for a championship this year and next. You don't trade away one of the top 5 run producers in baseball for prospects when you are among the favorites to win a World Series. It is laughable to think the Astros will trade him away this year under any other circumstance than this season being a total flop before the deadline.
Boros is selling MVP candidate Bregman. from 17 and 18 (8.4 WAR/yr). Astros will buy 4 War per year Bregman from 21 through 23 (3.8 WAR/Yr.) I just don't see it without Bregman telling Boros he wants to stay in Houston. My sense is he comes down on the mercenary side.
I want the Astros to annihilate this mother****er. Hope they watched tape on his ass and expose his weaknesses.
In 22 the Brewers traded Hader while in the race and their fans crucified them. The only way it happens is if: 1) it's before the season starts and the real is a big future positive while also not hurting the upcoming season chances, or very very slightly. 2) approaching the trade deadline and the team out of the race. Personally I think that other scenarios could work (and I have posted them) but in the real world they just don't happen.
I hope y’all are prepared for a delicious plate of crow once 2024 Tucker is a top 5 mvp candidate and has a big post season.
I would love to see that, hell, I was 100% wrong about CJ and that crow was delicious so I will gladly eat more if this happens
Not a bold prediction considering Tuck finished 5th in MVP voting last year and is going into his age-27 season. Tuck was excellent in the 2021 postseason, he's definitely produced before under the spotlight.
I’m really excited to see how their position player prospects look in spring games. They don’t feature a bunch of top prospects but they do have a big group of higher risk guys with very high ceilings in Leon, Loperfido, Dezenzo, Melton, Cabbage, Corona, and Whitcomb. All 7 of those guys have the power/speed ability for 30+ HR and 20+ SB if things go perfectly.
I want to see how Will Wagner will do. He was having a fantastic year in AA and AAA last year before he got injured. I hope he can bounce back.
Yeah I think Wagner has a shot to be a decent player but he doesn’t come with the ceiling those other guys do. He’s an on-base over power hitter who is limited defensively and doesn’t have baserunning value. The hope is that he hits for just enough power and is viable enough defensively to be a poor man’s DJ LeMahieu.
More left field for Yordan? Hmm... I guess Yordan reached out to Espada and let him know how he felt about the Astros GM saying Yordan would DH more.
Ha! Hey Nook. And board. Anybody figure out what was up w our home field disadvantage last year? The eyeball sign or sight obstruction or whatever?
