Does anyone thinkg Alpi got the Ime detention a bit tonight? I noticed a few bad defensive rotations, and after one there was an instant timeout and Ime talking to him on the sideline. Really confused by the landale 4th quarter start. Was an abnormally long rest it felt.
Not saying I disagree - but just pointing out the important context of: 1. Its a long season. We NEED landale to become useful (or find another big that can be useful). It's super important to find odd times to squeeze extra minutes out of bench players. 2. Continued tough love for his defence will be important, especially as his offensive game explode. If Alpi is as good as we think he can be, important to remember that its much tougher to hide an offensive star in the front court than the backcourt (e.g. as compared to harden).
I think so, yes. But I was actually hoping for Ime to not sub him back in the 4th. He just simply has to be better on defensive end. He's been above average this season but he was absolutely horrible tonight.
This guy will be traded sooner or later... The FO is ready to do something about it. Wait for next off-season, then he is gone forever. Everyone will know THIS IS JALEN GREEN TEAM.
Ime clearly didn't like what he saw from him tonight. He came to the bench early in the first quarter and stayed on the bench for too long in the 4th quarter. He played 28 mins while Jalen and Jabari played 32 and 34 respectively.
jalen and jabari earned tonight's mins no? i think sengun being bench tonight is somewhat justified seeing that he wasn't as effective in defending jokic compared to the previous 2 games. It's fine, sengun will get stronger and better in the near future
Yeah i think this was the first game this season he looked bad on defense. He says that he likes tough coaches so he should be fine.
I think it was just more Ime detention. Landale is the best we have, even though he sucks, he's a big backup center. So if you want to send a message to Sengun that his play is unacceptable, Landale is really your only option there. I think it's more about accountability and sending a message to Sengun than it is about thinking the team will do better with Landale on the court.
He was objectively bad on defense. Even the biggest Sengunsexuals can't tell me otherwise. Couldn't grab rebounds, stay in front of guards driving to the rim, bit on the fakes, couldn't recover and block shots. I also didn't quite like Jabari's defense either. Perimeter defense was awful too. We mainly didn't close out anyone. That's mostly because Jokic sees the open guy that nobody sees and we can't get there in time. He creates so many wide open shots. That being said we are 2-1 against Nuggets and kept them under 90 once which is huge because nobody has had done it this season until we did it. So he was awful on defensive end but i'm sure he bounces back. We are playing with Lakers and Okc next. Chet and AD are easier match ups for any big itl compared to Jokic.
Watching the way the Nuggets cut last night, we are leaving a lot of Sengun potential assists by the wayside. Need to get much, much better at back screens and cutting.
