I was just thinking that it's crazy how fast Westbrook seems to be moving for somebody who's widely considered to have fell off a cliff. I bet he could still put up numbers in the right situation, his athleticism is scary.
what situation is that? played with mvp harden. saw how that turned out went to washington to play with beal and have the ball back in his hands. saw how that turned out playing with Lebron. saw how that turned out played with clips. saw how that turned out and Athleticism means absolutely nothing with a shitty bball iq and the inability to shoot
And yet he's averaged a triple double and put up monster numbers, so it obviously counts for something. He's had a pretty impressive career with that athleticism that means nothing.
You literally responded to a post where all I said was he could probably still put up big numbers. You went on some weird rant, I reinforced the original point. It's not my responsibility to adjust to your lack of reading comprehension.
Exactly. So from his time in houston til now like i referenced what’s he done. Not a damn thing but contribute to more losing and throw up bricks. While trying to claim in the right situation he could put up numbers. Situations all brought up for the past several years and continues to just be trash. The situation doesn’t exist you brought up averaging a triple double which was a long time ago and irrelevant. So the correlation bw still putting up big numbers doesn’t exist it’s not my responsibility that you tried to make up some silly assumption about what westbrick is now. But he can run fast and jump high. So awesome. I guess
Sadly his lack of self-awareness and basketball IQ are the counter balance to his athleticism. Despite repeatedly being shown otherwise, he still believes his "all gas, no brakes" style of play is a winning formula in the NBA and, in his mind, it's justifies it by his counting stats.
Offensive was good. Defense looked better, I can't remember when (if ever) I've seen him get a steal while playing on-ball defense. The steal he got early in first quarter was nice and showed that he is more engaged defensively. Still got lost on occasion ball watching or "over helping" so would like to see him stay more attached to his man while still playing good help defense. Oh and hit his free throws... those misses were surprising and uncharacteristic.
I think the over-helping is something that'll take time tbh. At least the effort's there in a way it wasn't before, he'll pick up the schemes and how to actually play in time.
Agree. You could tell by the way people were flying around on the defensive end that coach Udoka has stressed defensive effort and energy. I saw multiple people helping on lane penetration when it happened. I'm not sure if all of the defensive schemes have been installed but just this base defense is worlds better than what we've seen in the past. Also agree that Jalen and others will get better as they get more comfortable with the schemes and expectations.
I was actually grinning from ear to ear all game long just seeing the hustle from top to bottom on the roster. Did my soul good after the Wood/KPJ experiments and literally just watching our guys not even run back to defend.
This quote was from a few days ago, so it’s nice to see Jalen demonstrate and validate what Ime is saying on the court last night. We don’t need Jalen to become Steve Nash or Luka and have some crazy vision, he just needs to consistently make the right - and simple - pass on pick and rolls. Opponent bigs focus on Jalen because the scouting report says he rarely passes on drives, once he starts dumping it off more the lane is going to open up for him to finish.
