Everyone knows that women will stay with guys who beat them and cheat on them. She has a lot of motivation to have her lawyer release this statement but it doesn't change anything that happened.
This is just the article from yesterday, linked by a different twitter account. Absolutely nothing new.
nope It isn't critical at all. KPJ's contract wasn't even guaranteed the rest of the time. And definitely not when Green and Sengun are up for extensions which the earliest would kick in 2025. His remaining non guaranteed deal doesn't impact them whatsoever. Only if he was guaranteed to be on the books, which he isn't. His salary cap hit this year makes no difference whatsoever. It only angers LTS Tilman
That's weird, @meh was swearing up and down that Dillon Brooks' contract value was irrelevant to cap space, but now KPJ's matters? This is interesting. But anyway... will be nice when the NBA lets this wrap up.
She's not backing down on her account of that incident. The point she's trying make through her reps is that she wouldn't have stayed in an abusive relationship.
The National Organization for Women has chimed in and they specifically called out the leaked trade rumors. UPDATE 12:39 PM PT -- The National Organization for Women is outraged as well ... telling us Porter Jr. shouldn't be in the NBA after he was arrested. "The NBA and the Houston Rockets have a choice here - condone or condemn," NOW President Christian F. Nunes told us on Thursday. "Does the NBA simply allow a trade and, in turn, permit this type of behavior? Or will the NBA for stand against domestic violence and hold players accountable?" "Kysre Gondrezick was hospitalized with brutal injuries - this shouldn't be a conversation about which team takes Kevin Porter. It should be about how he is no longer part of the league for a felony domestic violence arrest."
yup folks aren't actually reading the context and are just looking at the click bait headline. Which by the way is recycled from yesterday like @heypartner already mentioned. Shes saying that this hasn't been a relationship that had this kind of drama throughout.
so yeah, there is investment of emotional capital, attachment, intimacy… these are hard to write-off… But it’s interesting it’s coming from lawyers, what’s the point of publicizing this? Unfortunately, the lawyers may be seeing it as "let’s don’t kill the golden goose". Optimal legal strategy is to have him acquitted on the criminal charges, keeping his contract, and getting a civil settlement. Athlete’s victims would often go for it. We saw it with Ray Rice a few years back… Others, too. The harsh financial reality is that a criminal conviction - as justified as it is - only saves money for rich NBA owners, the victim gets nothing…
You're telling me that this is the first time ever that Kevin has been abusive towards her? Seems unlikely how long have they been together? Kevin has a history of not being able to control himself throughout his life.
That said, it's altogether possible she's not telling the truth about whether or not there was abusive behavior before this incident. The point is she's not "sticking by her man."
