He tried to rest Pressly last night and Stanek s**t the bed. I'm not a Dusty fan at all, but fans are up in arms every time somebody besides the top 4 comes in and sucks. Hopefully Gravmen will help in that regard, but Dusty has had a 4 reliable man pen for a while now.
lol no they don't. outside of 2 pitchers nobody else has consistently gone extended innings. And 1 of them is currently struggling for over a month now who happens to be the ace
So we get Verlander for pennies on the dollar while having to give up 2 prospects, albeit 2 higher ranked ones. Not top 100 players. Prospects from a position we're deep on the major league level in. So...what is the downside here? That maybe the 1 of the 2 prospects ends up being a decent player sometime in the next 5 years?
They both are basically locks to be top 100 in the next rankings, probably top 75. Doesn't mean it was a bad trade, but it was certainly a very steep price.
I’m a big fan of Gilbert and Clifford. But I’m a bigger fan of this deal. Crane and Verlander are both huge winners here. Both guys seem to like each other very well, but Crane’s accounting could not give Verlander the deal that the Mets gave him. And both sides agree to part mutually on good terms. As the Mets fizzled, it was time for the Mets to retool. So they paid about 27 million for each of Gilbert and Clifford. The Astros outfield is manned quite well with Tucker, McCormick, and Alvarez. So it’s not in imminent need; and the Astros could palate the departure of two highly skilled prospects. Verlander is back home!!! The place he’s been the most successful with, the place where he should break many career records with now, that he is getting another 2 years of starts here in Houston.
His next available day to start will be Friday, which would be Bielaks spot in the rotation. ....Just in time for us to visit Yankee Stadium
$54 mil can buy a decent plug in player or 2. But yeah probably best reinvested into the studs we have
