Daryl Morey Trading away 1st Rd Pick with Jeremy Lin to the Lakers for Lou Williams Trade 1st Round Pick to Nets for Terrence Williams Many other 1st Round Picks Traded by the Rockets for Years is the Reason why where we are today. Trading every 1st Round Pick to Dump Players and Contracts to Improve the Roster as anything for James Harden Prime Years.
we have 15 players... we can tolerate if a player or 2 are bad apples...and its only 1 GM.... he simply and equivocally must be a superior expert and hard worker..he cant be an average GM ... must be superb.... SO FIRE HIM BECAUSE THERES NO REASON TO KEEP HIM
Dude. You can’t just ignore the product on the court. Years 1-3 is not just about asset collection, but also on-court development. You do this by putting your core players in the best position to succeed and maximize their growth. The KPJ prioritization/experiment, not having a real point guard to get Green and Jabari easier shots, having Eric Gordon still here blocking minutes, still having Silas employed, the poor utilization of Sengun, etc. What good is it to accumulate talent, if you’re going to mismanage it?
I understand your thoughts but everything you stated is what got us Green & Smith. Sengun if used puts us back to mediocrity for years to come. Porter is a tanking tool, too. All this is for the greater good long term. Last year of it so just hold on because the debt to OKC starts. There is no way we can get out of paying it, our goal should be to give them the 30th pick very year.
The kids are developing fine. Literally none of the **** below matters. You guys focus way way way too much on it. Everyone has their favorite player(s) who they think are being horribly mistreated or mismanaged. 90% of their development is off the court.
while I tacitly agree , what’s your bar for “last year of it “ are we just going to flip a switch ? Have we really been purposefully extra bad ? How does that all shake out ? because if I extend stone the courtesy of saying that this year he can tank again I won’t be happy unless we make the playoffs next year . And if we get an injury , we’ll , boo boo .. he had 3 years to get talent so we are more than just 1 player
You know, in theory, I completely understand what you’re saying. The problem is, Stone is still a new GM. He doesn’t have a long enough track record to safely assume that all these problems today, won’t be problems tomorrow. Stone has done the complete opposite of what moves make the most sense. And as @snowconeman22 pointed out above, it’s wild to think we’re just going to flip a switch and make the play-in next season, given how terrible our structure, execution, and habits are on the court.
Without Stone we would not have Green, Sengun and recieve a 1st round pick for Wood. Without Stone we would not have KPJ (who is not a point guard) for a 2nd round pick. Without Stone we would have not have the Net's future picks and swaps. The only thing Stone is doing wrong is his fixation over KPJ and Nix at the point guard position and not telling Silas......Bye Felicia!!
The switch is a new coach. The switch is a system that plays to the strengths of the players. The switch is playing players in their natural positions. The witch is Silas; the rest of it will take care of itself.
Sure , but #1 he’s under contract for next year and tilman is cheap . #2 how long is it going to take to unlearn all the bad habits we’ve developed while tanking
The Wall sit and buy out (fraction of that for Silas)the purchase of a SRP (more than Silas per year) Tilman is not cheap. Silas is gone when the timing is right. To unlearn will all depend on the motivation.
OP should really check out the Cavs games, Mobley is decent, but looks very mediocre for a guy that is 6 months older than Jalen. Jalen has shown flashes for superstardom at 20, hes inconsistent, but id rather see an inconsistent player is continuously showing flashes of superstardom, than a guy that looks mehh. I literally would take Tari Eason and Sengun over Mobley without hesitation and dont even think this is some sort of hot take either or homer opinion, and likely even take Jabari as well, hes 2 years younger and I would rather take the gamble on him given that. Where are all the Mobley people??? Stone messed up the Harden trade to an extent in that we could have maximized return if knowing the direction of the team immediately. The Oladipo / Allen trade etc we could have gotten more, but I think part of that was ownership and the front office not willing to admit we were starting over yet. You have to credit Tilman for committing to the tank after that retool didnt work out though.
I agree with the bottom line - our goal should be to give OKC the 30th pick .... But let's talk about Sengun. All the Sengun only fans are acting like he's the second coming of Magic as a distributor. Fact is, his assist to turnover rate is 1:1, that's worse than Kevin Porter Jr's 1.22 or Jalen Green's 1.18. All three are absolutely terrible figures. And to make matters worse statistically, he's averaging 2.3 turnovers on about 15 possessions usage per game which corelates to his turnover percentage of 15.5ish. While that's better than KPJ, it's far from ideal for a first option offensive hub. It's also quite a bit worse than Jalen's 13.5% turnover rate. What these numbers tell us is that neither KPJ nor Sengun need to be the primary offensive hub and that this team desperately needs a lead guard who can get them into the offense and limit stupid turnovers. Sengun needs to stick to scoring and getting the opposing bigs in foul trouble with playmaking secondary.
What this tells me that Sengun in his first year as a offensive hub is better than 2-3 years of kpj pg developing into being one. If so how come we aren't pivoting and let sengun run the show and see if there's any improvement after a season worth
