Denver in: Gordon/Tucker Denver out: Gary Harris Outlook: get 2 sturdy vets to try and win now. Shores up the defense a bit more without sacrificing much offense. Cleveland in: Gary Harris Cleveland out: Kevin Love Outlook: get a younger talent and asset and fully commit to a rebuild while also cutting salary. Houston in: Kevin Love Houston out: Gordon/Tucker Outlook: add a 3rd star and shake things up in hopes of winning a ship. Fillers and picks negotiated around but the meat of the trade seems fair.
Ibaka would be good. Got very good numbers this past season. Protects the rim better than Tucker. Good in setting picks and rolling. How the Rockets swing that, idk.....but works well. Silas would be somewhat happy. Probably the best middle ground for all parties concerned. Harden/Westbrook included. Rondo associates are saying rings don’t mean much to Rondo since he got some with Boston. Feels people are saying Rondo got a ring with Lakers because of LeBron/AD......he feels LeBron/AD got a ring this past season because of him. Not completely that way.....but feels slighted. Thinks he can go to a contender and bring them a ring.
They could use either version of the MLE currently but using the taxpayer version means they can never exceed the apron at any point during the league year. Last I heard the apron was $145m but I'm not sure on that figure as there were some recent changes to the CBA numbers and I can't find a clear answer on the apron for this season , it may be slightly lower. Like the NT-MLE the BAE also triggers the hard cap at the apron but for them to use that along with the NT-MLE they would have to shed some salary first as they are already perilously close to that figure. Hope that helps.
Interesting that they have both options. The last time the used the BAE and the NT-MLE They almost won it all. It is a fine line to walk but "Flexibility" doesn't score or play defense, Also the idea that your best team should be set on April and not in the beginning of the season is an understatement. Man it looks simple behind a computer but is nearly impossible to please everybody when it comes to Salary.
That's if he opts out (likely) and you can convince him to take a MLE contract even though he can make more.
Heat may have too many great young players. More than half their roster are an inexperienced 26 or younger: Herro, Duncan, Nunn, DJ, Vincent, Silva, KZ. Even Bam is only 23. Need more All Stars (and to shed salary) to take next step, this is likely why there are so many rumors coming out of Miami regarding willingness to trade. Heat as currently configured are not beating Lakers or maybe even the Nets. https://www.prosportsdaily.com/RedZ...d-1stround-picks-for-russell-westbrook-658855 NYK: Russ Westbrook, Doug McDermott, Kelly Olynyk, Ben McLemore ORL: Myles Turner, RJ Barrett, Kendrick Nunn MIA: Victor Oladipo, Taj Gibson IND: Julius Randle, Andre Iguodala, Dennis Smith, Danuel House HOU: Aaron Gordon, Tyler Herro, Bobby Portis, Frank Ntilikina, Mo Bamba + Knicks SRP *Knicks - get their superstar prime time player in Russ + surround him with shooters Brodie, Ellington/Dotson, Dougie McBuckets, Knox, Olynyk starting 5 w/Robinson, Elfrid, BMac, Bullock, FRP off the bench. *Heat - add another All Star (Dipo) + shed salary + Taj to back up Bam ( and replace Olynyk). Jimmy, Dipo, Robinson, DJ/Dragic and Bam starting 5 w/Taj, Silva, KZ, FRP and Vincent off the bench.
Subject to change of course, here is Rondo rumor. https://www.essentiallysports.com/n...-blow-as-rajon-rondo-set-to-test-free-agency/
Teams operating above the cap always have the option of using either T or NT MLE unless they are or have been over the apron or the use of the NT version would put them over the apron. You can at no time during the league year exceed the apron if you use the NT version. Teams operating below the cap can not use these exceptions , they have what's called the "Room exception." The BAE can only be used if you didn't use it the year before - its use also hard caps you below the apron. Sticky this - https://cbabreakdown.com/
So you're telling me there's a chance...? He's already made close to 200 million in his career, what's one year of "only" 5-6 million? Play with the LA dudes. Wreck the league. How does Demar Derozan like the sound of being a champion? Opt out and take our MLE. Free food for life from Landry's.
Sorry to get back to you so late @saleem long day at work. Here is a list of centers in the league and their salaries: Note Zubac at #30 making $7 million per year. Why I think Baynes gets more more than Zubac.....because Baynes brings more. IMO. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/contracts/center/ Who do you want the Rockets to go after? Which unicorn or mystical player can guard Embiid/Drummond one night and AD/Draymond/Giannis/Durant another?
I do think Russ to the Knicks is the only thing that makes sense moving forward. He makes perfect sense for them, and probably the ones that would value him way more than a negative contract in a trade, which makes it make sense for Houston as well. Unfortunately unless the trade is a multi player trade that actually works for every team involved and works for Harden where he is satisfied enough with his new teammates to lose his best friend, which lets be brutally honest it’s impossible; it ain’t happening.
Keeping our roster as is is a good thing. Hopefully we add a good piece or two but this coming season will be weird anyway, players and teams have been all flustered due to the crazy year and stoppages; having continuity is a great thing.
Thing is these guys make 20 million/year for a very short window and a lot of that goes away in taxes and agent payments. So 100 million in 5 years has to be spread out to another 50 years of life. So I’d say Derozan either opts out for a bigger contract or opts in if he can’t get paid
I don't expect the Rockets to use either the Non-Taxpayer MLE or the Biannual Exception, since the use of either would impose a hard cap. And while I agree that the Rockets are unlikely to exceed the apron level - they'll probably pay some tax, but not a ton - they'll want to at least give themselves the flexibility to exceed the apron level if something special comes along. This is exactly what happened last year with the Nene contract. Before the league vetoed certain aspects of that contract, it was seen as a tool to potentially allow the Rockets to make a trade - and exceed the apron level - IF the right deal came along. But alas, it was all moot last season.
Thanks bro. I believe Silas might be dreaming to acquire Christian Wood. He could give us some hope. There is no peak KG out there. He could have challenged them all with great success. I’m just surprised at Silas’s wish. Never at you, mon ami.
Serge Ibaka maybe, or Derrick Favors. Christian Wood is not going to defend all those players with any degree of efficiency. Wood is better on offense, still needs more work on D.
