I love Rendon (except during the WS this year), but with his history of injuries, this is a high risk contract. This is a championship window-destroying type of financial commitment if he doesn't perform due to health or other factors.
you’re gonna be saying this for every single Great player that hits free agency from now on until we hit a recession
Would've loved to see him come home but at least he's not on the Rangers. That's the only way I would've not minded to see Correa go is if it led to AB sliding over and bringing in Rendon. In Luhnow we trust tho and hopefully he'll still be our GM after all is said and done with THAT mess....
They are in a great market, with a huge TV deal, and aside from Trout they never have to spend money on in house talent because they never seem to have any. Therefore all that big market money goes to big name free agent position players. The Angels have done a piss poor job around Trout. They should have just rebuilt a few years back and then spent when they were ready to compete. Instead they have tried to remain competitive, which has had them on a mediocrity treadmill. Even now they have 2 of the 10 best players in the game, and they were gift wrapped a phenom in Ohtani, yet there's still nothing threatening about them. If things go right I think they may be around 85 wins.
They still don’t have a better lineup than the Astros, and their pitching isn’t in the same stratosphere, either.
That is just ridiculous money. Rendon isn't worth that but good for his agent to make people believe he is. Even with all this spending, I still believe the Astros will win the division again...
