It's not about the stats he puts on the table. He is the kind of a player that can spark the team up simply by playing hard, like he does every game. Beverley type of mentality, with very good skills already. Guys, he is only 23 years old! And he is improving year after year.
I found Sabonis' and Turner's stats from last nights game quite interesting. Very similar looking boxscore statlines: Sabonis had 27p/13r/2a on 78,5% TS Turner had 25p/9r/3b/2s on 76,6% TS BUT: Sabonis had 147 ORtg & 121 DRtg (+26 NetRtg) Turner had 116 ORtg & 113 DRtg (+3 NetRtg) Sabonis also had .280 WS/48, while Turner had .125 WS/48 Sabonis had a 8.1 BPM, while Turner had a 3.2 BPM I don't know if these stats are legit, but what they seem to be saying is that the difference between Sabonis and Turner's offensive impact is far greater than between their defensive impact.
I would def do it Capela has proven to be a disappointment if we can get 2 full size forwards then why the hell not?
If this kid ever gets a decent 3 point shot his stock would go through the roof. His handles, rebounding and finishing ability at the rim are way ahead of the curve for a player of his age. I was just watching his opening night highlights. It's too bad that players like this no longer fit most analytically driven systems. Trez is fortunate to be playing for a coach that understands and knows how to get the most out of his talents regardless of whether or not he can make a 3.
In the latest Lowe podcast, he said that Indiana didn't really try to trade him, so probably it was a ill intentioned leak.
Seems like Indiana underpaid after all. That Sabonis/Brogdon PnR is lethal. 20.0 ppg 13.0 rpg 4.1 apg
Was only a matter of time, he's been flirting with a triple-double this whole season. Had multiple games with 9, 8 or 7 assists.
Here's some historical footage of a fascinating duel between an 18 year old Sabonis and a 22 year old Ralph Sampson (basically 1 year before he was drafted by the Rockets and became the Rookie of the Year). Huge dunk by Sampson at 2:58, and multiple nifty passes by Sabonis throughout the whole video (also, Sabonis almost threw the ball at the ref's face at around 3:20 lol). This video doesn't really showcase the full skillset of a prime Sabonis, here his offensive game mostly revolved around jumpshots.
What's that quote again? “We won’t be reporting,” B.J. Armstrong, Motiejunas’ agent, told Bleacher Report. “We have our rights, and we’ll go from there. We got, what, 48 hours? We got time. Right now, that’s all we need to say. We know our rights.” So, so good.
Ok.... I’ll do the dumb throw out dumb as f trade proposals. Obviously Pacers want to keep Sabonis. So Harden, Tucker for Oladipo, Brogdon, Turner (whatever else either side to make it work). then you can trade Capela for whatever and Russ for whatever... whatever in both cases being a decent return. Voila!! lol.... jk
True. Could have been a legit All-Time great in the NBA. Could do literally everything on both ends of the floor.
