I'll give BOB props this game. The new Watson roll out plays to the TE's was a nice addition to the offense. Our O-Line is looking a lot better and props for our two RB's for keeping us in the game also.
Is it something about the way Anger is putting down the hold? Fairbairhn seemed to get worse after the change at punter.
What a great game. I did not expect a win...particularly after we fell behind so quickly. Texans played so well under adversity.
Before the last game, the reporter said O'Brien was going to go back to the things that Watson was good at doing. AKA going back to the things that worked in college and his first season. There have been a lot more RPO's and quick slants the last two game. I'm glad O'Brien is dialing up plays to fit his QB, but it shouldn't have taken a year to figure this out when he was so good coming out of the gate.
Some quick thoughts after watching the game again. The score is misleading, this game should not have been this close. The receiving core owes Deshaun dinner, they ran poor routes and had the droppsies. Nuk and Fuller catch all their passes and this game wouldn’t have been close. The oline pushed around a bad chiefs line, and thankfully Tytus isn’t hurt long term. The oline improvements are massive each week, and as good as Tytus has looked, Rod Johnson can more than hold his own in the interim. Also props to Mad Max Sharp as he was very impressive after a tougher week. I understand mahomes is hurt, which affects his throws, but our secondary, specifically Lonnie, played by far their best game. They had their moments of slippage but that happens playing against mahomes. Lonnie and Gibson played great, and losing Roby hurt cause he was great when he was targeted. I love JJo, but his time is over and we need to move on from him. Also, BOB coached circles around Andy Reid, which I was not expecting. Must recognize that the head coach had the perfect game plan and got the team to execute it. All in all this was one of the most encouraging wins I’ve seen in awhile.
BOB coached his buttchin off yesterday. The most encouraging thing is it seems like he's not making the same bonehead game management decisions he used to do repeatedly. More aggressive at end of games, going for the kill instead of giving the ball back to Mahomes with a chance to march down. Going for it on 4th and shorts..but its not just the decision to go for it, it's the smart play calls that go with it. He used to make good decisions with bad play calls, or just bad decisions altogether. Fair is fair, BOB has been brilliant the last two games.
