Because they know that signing up for a Mike D'Antoni coached team thinking that they will win a title is asinine.
Didn’t Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen ring chase? Granted, I feel like that was before it was REALLY a thing. We just need to win and then we will have ring chasers AND our very first REAL bandwagon fans!
Simple answer is you need to be the odds on favorite to win it all that said year. Correct me if I’m wrong, while our odds have been good to win the league championship, they haven’t been the best. Which as mentioned by a poster earlier, this then leaves the Rockets picking out of the good ring chaser candidates and not the best/great ones.
I think part of the reason this thread is three pages long is you didn't establish criteria. Lots of guys have signed with the Rockets that could have gone elsewhere for a little more. Please give examples of teams who have had more luck and have signed multiple players. Then we all understand what standard you'd like the Rockets to be up to. My sneaking suspicion is that if you try to create that list you're going to discover that the Rockets actually stack up about as well as anyone.
Because they know we ain’t winning out here. We’re just pretenders year after year...until proven otherwise
are you talking about Andre iguodala in particular because that’s the only guy I can think of that meets your criteria. Most ring chasers are in the grey area of possibly washed up or having a couple good years left. You could argue cp became a ring chaser when he decided to team up with harden. The only difference is we gave him an absurd contract for his likely level of play over the length of it.
I figured it out: because we don’t even try to sign them. Plenty of guys signed for cheap: Ed Davis, Aminu, Hezonja, Carroll, Taj Gibson.
