At least he led us to a playoff series victory. they definitely shouldn't let stars in who can't even get passed the first round.
Possibly the last Rocket who was COMPLETELY DEDICATED to the Rockets basketball and the city of Houston no twitter no fat reality chicks no whiny rap stars no throwing people under the bus He was Rudy T's pick and it shows.
How about 8-time All Star? For people who dismiss it as (Chinese) fan voted, one could argue that MVP is also just media voted.
Yao was actually a consistently good player which separates him from some scrub on the bench getting all star votes
It was because of Asian fans voting. Period. Hell a couple years he was even injured and voted into the game. MVP voters don't have the same bias, so your point is not valid. FYI I was a big fan of Yao when he played for the Rockets, but come on.
When it came time for the playoffs and teams could game plan for him, he could not exert his will on the game. Could be eliminated offensively by fronting. And we all saw what Utah did to him as a defender. Would not be remembered so great if he came from some American ghetto rather than the Far East. Still a nice guy.
Never gets old. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Pk0MPyiJBbc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This could not be further from the truth I don't even know what to say. Pull up his playoff stats. Nowhere will you find that he was "eliminated" from the game. This is the symptom of letting specific memories cloud the overall picture. I feel like every time fronting is brought up I have to be one of the few people to remind the mass that even the great agile Hakeem had issues against the fronting defense employed by the Sonics. That's why we always had problems against them. One player doesn't beat the fronting it takes the collective team to. Your teammates need to be good passers, have high bb iq and be able to take advantage of the defense that's keying one player. When your third best player against the Jazz was Luther Head and he made 1% of his wide open 3 pointers that series, yes you're going to lose.

Congrats to HOF Yao the man from Shanghai!! I always fell he was one of those good all-star level player but was a borderline HOF level player. I definitely believe being the first and only NBA star from China was a big reason he got in the HOF. I would consider his career stats and resolves in the playoffs similar to Cleveland's Brad Daugherty. Still an all star center and one of the best in his days. I am happy he is in the HOF.
