I'd go with Raptors too. But I don't know about being ridiculous good on defense. Toronto was a great offensive team, at least in the regular season. Swapping Leonard and DeRozan is not a drop off on that end. And their defense will improve.

Anyway, now we'll see whether their past problem in the playoffs is due to DeRozan's deficiency or Lowry's or both. Those two guys just didn't look the same in the playoffs.

All sides made the best out of a bad situation with this trade. Now Pop can spend his final years in the league still coaching a winning team and continue his playoffs streak. KL gets a shot to redeem himself as a top five player in the league before his upcoming free agency next summer. Toronto gets a shot to keep Leonard as their franchise player who's obviously an upgrade over Derozen. And if they can't do that they can start a proper rebuild after getting rid of DeMar's contract. They weren't going to win anything with the team they had.

Those aren't Kawhi's words. Why overanalyze when the previous sentence says "no indication".

Consider that the media woke up to speculation (and yes, it's finally being referred to as speculation by ESPN) that Kawhi might pull a Francis. So, first articles feel compelled to address that. Hence, comments like "he appears to have an open-mind now", which to me, seem completely out of context and make no sense to me, insofar as, why are they being included in a story containing "no indication [of Francis drama]".

It makes no sense to me, because I read the whole morning as no indication, so wasn't wondering about it, and didn't get why many were talking of not reporting, other than for fun of it. I get the confusion now. But didn't at the time, so those phrases seem out of place, and just addressing the speculation that went wild on the internet...because, drama rules.

he was on a playoff team, not really a contender in the west tbh.

but the same can be said about toronto in the east but atleast there's a less stressful road to the get to the finals over there

Don't underestimate OG Anunoby's increasing impact on their defense, after his rookie year. He can guard every position (6'7, 7'3 wingspan). He's same body build as Kawhi, and will learn a lot from him. Another is Siakam. But so far, you can't really have both of them on the court together.

I really like OG. Kawhi, Kyle and OG on the court together could be best perimeter defense in the league.

Consider the Toronto Star is calling Poeltl the Raptors "fifth best young player," behind OG, Siakam, Delon Wright and VanFleet. And Pops likes Poeltl.

One thing is for sure: I'm really envious of the Raptors young players because of how hard it is to spell their names

    • Poetle, Peoltl, Poeltllll
    • Van Fleet (with a space)

If Kawhi tries that bullshit again with a new team he will probably be unmarketable and never get the shoe deal him and his uncle think they deserve no matter what team he is on

Should help that he'll probably have Green sitting next to him (both being introduced together) vs going solo like PG13 did (who handled it well with his charisma).

I really like this trade for our Churro Brethren down I-10.

Demar DeRozan was a class act in Toronto for that franchise and he will be a perfect fit under Popovich's tutelage. The Spurs can rejoice their nightmare is over. Now, they can continue build around DeRozan as their franchise player until Pop retires.

As for Kawhi, I think he's in for a reality check now that he got what he wanted. I don't think he's a top 5 player without Pop's system and coaching. This is going to be wake up call for a guy who has never been asked to carry a team on his shoulder. Welcome to the life of LeBron and Harden.

Why are athletes so sensitive about their injuries and think the organization harbored ill intent?

    Hey Hawaii, it's Vivi.
