Panthers are usually black or dark brown in color. However, florida panthers are lighter in color....closer to a cougar in appearance. Black Panther is correct.
Ryan Coogler Co-Writing BLACK PANTHER For Marvel; Update On Cast And Shooting Schedule Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms that Creed director Ryan Coogler is both helming AND writing Black Panther and reveals when we'll start hearing more about the movie's cast.. Spider-Man swinging his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe slightly delayed Black Panther's first solo adventure, but the movie is still happening with Creed director Ryan Coogler at the helm. However, other than the fact that Coogler is directing and Captain America: Civil War star Chadwick Boseman will be reprising the role of T'Challa, we know nothing about what to expect from this movie. Well, when Collider caught up with Kevin Feige recently, they asked for an update and just how close the script is to being finished. "Very soon. We have a number of writers on it including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing, he’s working on the draft right now. Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements. We start filming at the very beginning of next year." This is the first we've heard about Coogler being involved with the script, but considering the fact that he penned Fruitvale Station and Creed, this is awesome news. It's also great to hear that we won't have too long to wait until casting news, especially as we currently have no idea what roles Marvel are looking to fill in Black Panther. Who do you hope to see? As always, be sure to stay tuned for updates.
Hopefully Spider-Man being introduced into the MCU helps it pull some serious extra $ for Sony, leading Fox to see the light on a combined universe. Not only could we see some awesome combos like Storm/Black Panther and Cap/Wolverine, we could see Fantastic Four come back to the MCU as the preeminent sci-fi Marvel team.
You would need another email scandal to get the rights to storm. A storm/black panther movie would be awesome.
Lol, nice. I think this is my most anticipated solo movie coming up (now that Deadpool has passed and not counting Deadpool 2). I haven't seen Fruitvale Station, but I intend to catch Creed in the near future.
Fruitvale was sad man. Actually got the new Black Panther comic today. Haven't bought a comic in years. It wasn't too bad tho. Can't wait for the movie when it finally comes out
Panthers are always black. They are either black jaguars (Central/South Americas) or black leopards (Africa). So it isn't a species, it's a genetic condition affecting coat color. Never heard of a true panther in Florida in the wild.
Always loved the character. Can't wait for the movie. Now onto business. I don't mean to be a nerd, but I wanted to set some people straight about panthers. Panther or black panther is used to describe a melanistic cat in the Panthera genus. When people mention a panther, they are talking about either the leopard or jaguar. The Florida panther is a nickname for the Florida subspecies of puma (cougar, mountain lion, catamount). Pumas are not in the genus Panthera, and also do not have the melanistic gene (whether dominant or recessive). In fact, the scientific name Puma concolor means Puma of uniform color. This means all pumas are tawny in color. Sorry about the science lesson tangent everyone.
