I can't wait to go to Siesta Key now on vacation and see that beautiful rig on the coastline with a little "black gold" tingling in between my toes. This will really help Florida tourism. Put that on a postcard.
Back when I was a kid running around the beaches, my moms would have the baby oil handy to clean all our feet. 20 years later, tarballs on the beach are no longer a problem. Regulations are just terrible, I guess.
Well, it worked well for FL and their republican governor, so another repub governor tries for an exemption. But does trump have a resort seaside in SC? Another GOP governor wants state excluded from Trump offshore drilling plan https://www.cbsnews.com/news/anothe...e-excluded-from-trump-offshore-drilling-plan/
Coal is the future. _____ China’s latest energy megaproject shows that coal really is on the way out The Chinese province of Anhui built a massive floating solar farm on top of an abandoned coal mine. An even larger floating solar plant will come online by May 2018. Due to rising concerns surrounding air pollution-related deaths, China is trying to invest more heavily in renewable energy projects. The new solar farms are part of the global shift away from energy generated from fossil fuels. http://www.businessinsider.com/china-floating-solar-farm-coal-mine-renewable-energy-2018-1
I wish our nation had the will to take the lead on this. It would be great for the economy, jobs, and industry in the United States.
Reality sets in for the coal industry: Trump is powerless to save it Coal plants now shutting down faster under Trump than Obama. President Trump campaigned on a pledge to end the supposed “war on coal” that he claimed President Obama had been waging. But the reality is that more coal capacity was retired in the first 45 days of 2018 than in each of the first three years of the Obama administration. In fact, Bloomberg New Energy Finance reported last week in its 2018 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook that by the end of last year, coal plant owners “had announced 12.5GW of planned retirements for 2018, foreshadowing the largest year for coal decommissioning since the 15GW of retirements in 2015.” Mary Anne Hitt, Director of Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign, explained this week that “a coal plant has retired every 16 days since Trump was elected.” That’s the same pace as during the Obama administration’s full eight years, but much faster than the pace during Obama’s first term. https://thinkprogress.org/coal-plants-now-shutting-down-faster-under-trump-than-obama-4da9d4554ec0/
This actually isn't new. The military has always disliked offshore drilling in the Gulf. It actually causes problems with the Navy and Coast Guard. Once you start introducing offshore rigs, it gets a lot harder for both (but especially the navy) to mobilize and safely navigate through the Gulf. Plus for a long time (not sure if they still do), the Air Force actually did a lot of testing over the Gulf that would be impeded by offshore drilling.
Another trump (and scott walker) deal turning sour... $4B went to foxconn. Foxconn now declines to say it plans to build type of factory named in state, local contracts https://www.jsonline.com/story/mone...uild-type-factory-named-contracts/1072306002/
Gee, I remember those happier times when trump was bragging about all the jobs he was bringing to Wisconsin...
