Texas man flying to London had 75 pounds of pot in luggage at MIA, police say

A Texas man was arrested before he could board a flight to London after 75 pounds of mar1juana was found in his luggage at Miami International Airport, authorities said.

Harrison O'Neill Tiernan, 23, of Austin, was arrested Saturday at MIA on a cannabis trafficking charge, an arrest report said.

Tiernan, who was traveling to London's Heathrow Airport, had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Authorities inspecting the bags discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a "green leafy" substances, that was later confirmed to be mar1juana, the report said.

Tiernan was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers while trying to board the flight and acknowledged that the two checked bags belonged to him.

The report did not say whether Tiernan's suitcases were targeted, but noted that CBP was conducting inspections at Miami International due to a "high trend of narcotics being smuggled outbound from USA."

In all, Tiernan had 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of mar1juana, the report said. CBP initially notified U.S. Homeland Security, which declined the case because the amount of drugs did not meet "the federal threshold," the report states. They then contacted the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, which became the lead agency for the case.

Tiernan was arrested and booked into jail. He appeared before a judge on Sunday who set his bond at $20,000 and order Tiernan to wear a GPS monitor if he posts bond.

The incident is just the latest of several recent drug trafficking arrests at MIA that includes an arrest last month of a woman from California and of a woman traveling to the Dominican Republic.

When I worked in prisons, they busted a drug ring in Gainesville (TX) state school run by the guards. Like those kids didn't have enough **** going on in their lives. Getting in and out of that place was an even bigger pain in the ass after that.

How much money could they have been making to risk a felony and turning from a guard to an inmate?

The TJJD guards aren't terribly bright, the skillset requirements aren't high and neither is the pay. Private prison guards are even worse. TDC guards are much better but there were some real knuckleheads too.

That said, one thing I learned is that prison is full of idiots. They ain't planning intricate bank heists in there. No surprise that a dumb guard got caught and is now just another dumb inmate.

“There’s a list of items including a television, a record player, a coffee pot, some bedding, some carpeting, I believe, and a rug.”

The disgusted victim said the unhinged suspect left behind a strong stench and caused about $3,980 in damage to furniture and other items in one unit, with another $1,374 reported in the other.

An antique Crown Royal chair, rug, typewriter, four dining chairs, coffee pot, bed, TV, record player, and an electric fireplace are just some of the items ruined and now need replacing.

The victim said a vase, green rug, accent wall, chair, and a tiger rug were also peed on.

Quad amputee cornhole champion faces murder charges

Webber pulled over after the shooting in La Plata, and asked two passengers in the back of the car to help pull the victim out, the Charles County Sheriff's Office said. The witnesses refused, got out of the car and flagged down police officers.

The American Cornhole League posted a statement on its Facebook page saying it is aware of allegations involving Webber but said it would not comment on what it called "an active legal situation" while proceedings were ongoing.
