Brian Windhorst mentioned this in the podcast he did with Zach Lowe. Ty Lue's deal was $1.25M for year 1, $1.5M for year 2 and a team option $1.75M for year 3.

Seems like a lot of money. The new CBA in which players get a much lower portion of the revenue looks like it is allowing teams to spend lavishly. Phil Jackson got $60M to run the Knicks. Fisher and Kerr got $25M to be first time coaches. Now Lue gets up to $4.5M for lead assistant job?

I hope Les spends lavishly on an excellent lead assistant who has a sterling reputation coaching defense. Someone like Van Gundy or Hollins. A guy who could step into the head coaching spot if need be. Interesting take on the new CBA and its impact, Carl. :)-

Average NBA players on the verge of retirement better take notice. If you can't commentate, you better get yourself in the coaching ranks.

    It's the triumph of moreyism/moneyball.

Hire a former player/players coach - preferably a PG - to recruit players.

Let the x's and o's work themselves out. Popovich, Thibodeaux, the Van Gundys- the career coach types are a dying breed.
